So, A pickup truck, with a 8 ft bed, does not have to go thru scales, UNLESS, it has a GVWR of 10K or more. My truck has a GVWR of 14K. BUT it goes on to say, a pickup with an unladen weight of less the 8K does not. My truck weighs about 7400 lbs empty. Laws are very confusing....AND if a pickup has a utility bed, it has to go thru scales anyway. Because, a pickup has to have an open bed....otherwise it is a motor truck. and they do have to go thru scales....... and flatbeds go thru scales as well......AND all of this goes out the window if you are hauling for hire.....
The Monty Python guys write all the laws. I'm certain
