The leading face of the cylinder heads have casting "bumps". it helps identify what they are

So my dad bought himself a 2wd Chevy truck this weekend at an estate auction. Supposedly started life as an in-line 6/3 speed truck, now has a Chevy small block and a 4spd. Runs strong. Very strong. The son of the deceased previous owner told dad afterwards that the small block was a 327. But I’m having a hard time believing it given the 3 year production life span of the 327. It’s just a two barrel. But I’m guessing 305.
No way to tell without measuring bore/stroke. One drawback of the older small block chevy.

A dead giveaway on earl or late lik a 305 is the bosses on front of left head is drilled and tapped for p/s pump and stuff.
Early has no boss and used exh manifold as a p/s mount.

Sis and I went to the funeral home today to make arrangements. We should have a obit available tomorrow (I hope) I'll let you all know when I get it.

Wrapped up recert. As always, impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the instructors. Privileged to have the author of the discipline book come out of retirement to conduct the class.

If anyone ever has the misfortune of a bad day... you want one of these folks nearby.

Wow, I’m not even bitching this time, I’m in awe. We have hit a new local record for highest gas price ever. It jumped to 5.099 for diesel. 4.899 for 87

You listen to marketplace tonight?
Its not a great a show but this synopsis was an interesting angle on the business of refining oil, and the irony that we (US) is buying sour oil to refine while selling our sweet crude to others.
Why do we import Russian oil when there's a lot in the U.S.? - Marketplace
