I was changing the clutch in my Vega wagon. Pulled the trans and OMG!! I could not believe how heavy it was!! Weight more then the engine!!! Right on my chest it landed!! Sum *****!! Putting it back in was a chore....
Yep, I have a few times, cardboard is nice and slippery, many times ( 3 or 4) with out air tools.

Speaking of Vega,sI was changing the clutch in my Vega wagon. Pulled the trans and OMG!! I could not believe how heavy it was!! Weight more then the engine!!! Right on my chest it landed!! Sum *****!! Putting it back in was a chore....
So. Pumped till there was no more. I used the cars electric pump to empty. Gauge showed empty. Got 8 gallons out... And ordered a new gear vendor Speedo adaptor. When I swapped from 355 to 323 gears it put Speedo out of wack. Hard to figure milage when odometer is off...So, I more of less calibrated my NOS fuel gauge with a more or less correct new fuel sending unit. For a A100. Put new gauge in, and it showed empty. So far I have pumped 6 gallons out. Need more fuel cans. Waiting on them. So the "Right" fuel sending unit is real crap!! The ones they sell for the A body.....I am going to put a gallon back in at a time, after pumping it all out, and note gauge readings....After I install new sending unit...From A 100 Van....

I have a new sending unit/ float going in. With the NOS gauge. I fully expect it to be a lot more accurate...As The Uecker would say... "Juuuuuusssttt a bit outside" on that gauge accuracy.
Back to the drawing board.
I was working on a friends 72 chevelle and he wanted to put the trans in. He has a lift and a shop so I thought; "no problem, get out the transmission jack and we will just lower the car over it and put the bolts in." no.I was changing the clutch in my Vega wagon. I found the videoI was working on a friends 72 chevelle and he wanted to put the trans in. He has a lift and a shop so I thought; "no problem, get out the transmission jack and we will just lower the car over it and put the bolts in." no.
got 4 dudes and just heaved ho'ed the trans on our shoulders and tried to line it up. The thing is, he got the wrong bolts. So for about 5 minutes i'm trying to thread bolts in while everyone is slowly crumbling under the weight of the thing.
Eventually he got a ratchet strap and a 4x4 to hold it in place so we wouldn't drip it on our domes. not fun.
When I pull my trans out, I am definitely making a jig out of wood that will fit the trans pan so I won't have to heave it and tear something.
Just a wee bit. When you get back. Here's the splines on axles those will replace.
IS THIS BAD?

And someone will pay that.
Gauge and sender are a calibrated match? So my Fuel gauge install goes on. As you recall, I bench tested the new gauge with the new sending unit/float. I was reasonably happy with the results. BUT, I installed everything, and, 1 gallon, no gauge movement, BUT the car will run. 2 gallons same. 3 same. 4 needle just moves. 5 gallons and you can see the empty mark on the left side of the needle. 6, 7,8, now shows 1/4 tank. 9, same just a little movement, 10, little more, 11 gallons shows 1/2 tank. Need to get more fuel to continue.... At 9 gallons, It started to leak a little, I tightened the ring, it stopped, but that is about 1/2 way up the tank...
They are. As good as is available... The float position on the bench was appropriate with what the gauge showed....or close....I did notice the lower part of the scale had little movement, just like in the car....Still a improvement from the old. There was 8 gallons in the tank and it showed empty...Gauge and sender are a calibrated match?
Other then a ground issue then no idea. They are. As good as is available... The float position on the bench was appropriate with what the gauge showed....or close....I did notice the lower part of the scale had little movement, just like in the car....
