Couple of the owner-operator water trucks the contractor I worked for were on the call out list for CalFire or USFS whichever it was or both. Come fire season we just figgered they could disappear any day. The call outs paid them well, 24/7 whether they hauled 50 loads per day or none. One of them came back from a fire with a story about being forced to take cover inside his water tank as the fire blew over his truck, fine one minute and the next he was cutoff from escaping and surrounded by the fire. .

This is trying to get to that issue of resources on the fireground and being able to guide and direct those cats while they are out there trying to do their work.

Put struts in a ford almost 2 years ago. Left one is knocking. Lifetime warrany. Yay! Almost $400

That fire over in Longmont a few months ago was really something. I've never seen anything like that. The fact that it happened soooooooo fast was just hard to believe. Over a 1000 homes in just a few short hours. Winds up to 100 mph. Really not much that anyone could do. Very scary. I live in a desert valley so not much to burn right here but it does fill up with smoke.

I bought my 67 Formula S fastback in Longmont....

So I’m another Chris moment, I screwed up. Was installing the oil pump today on the 440 and noticed at the bottom of the instructions, it reads “This is a high volume, standard PSI oil pump. Requires a wet sump and 7 quart capacity oil pan”… so much for that stock A body big block oil pan

Pretty much a wasted morning, running around looking for a side panel for my new cabinet. Nobody stocks oak plywood other than small pieces. What I need is 2ft x 7ft. Home Depot has end panels, but they are Beech. Lowes has some in Oak that are a little narrow, but I will probably do a 1/2” quarter round molding, so that’s OK. First Lowes had 4, but the grain was not the best on 3 and the other was damaged. Tried another store and they had none in stock. So thinking I might go to store on other side of Lancaster that shows 5 in stock tomorrow morning…

How thick you need?

So weld in a kick out or just run an extra quart of oil if you race it. I did that with my old race car. It would suck the pan dry about a 1000 ft. Ran an extra quart and had 90 psi at the finish line at 7800rpm.

I have come up with a solution already. One will be fun to do, the other I was planning on anyway, that being an accumulator
