Stop in for a cup of coffee

it just seems super thick which i don't remember if it was like that when it was new.. i'm sure it's fine and i'm overthinking as usual is all
NLGI 2 or 3 is pretty stiff stuff
I think 2 is typically used for wheel bearings and almost everything else too.

Yeah.. was reading up on ratings.. i will check what the stuff that i have is when i get home.. i just overthink every single thing and it's not like wheel bearings matter...

Here's whats funny bout that picture.. i'm not sure my bench is big enough to do my trans on... i might end up on the floor with it :) Bought 2 cans of easy off this morning.... my trans is like 1" deep in dried oil/grease front to back.. gonna scrape it first though

I made a cradle for the transmissions out of some scrap lumber so it's not totally on the ground and I can rotate them without getting weight on the connectors and levers

I'd go to the box store and get some sort of paint tarp and put it between the tranny and the floor. When your done roll it up and throw it away. Remember to wear gloves, goggles and don't wear those shoes inside until you clean them off.
There sure you knew all that but I feel better sharing my past experiences with easy off.

When i was a kid we used a 35gal drum, put a big V on one side and a small v on the other.. would hold a housing perfectly... Whats funny is i probably had built 35 trans when i was like 20-22 and this one has be more stressed than anything on the car, and 727s are cake to build...

Bearings should come pre-packed.... one of the **** jobs..
Now what fun would that be?
I bought one of those bearing cup things, best thing ever
Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance
What fun is that?
Plus you store the grease in the cup
Oh. OK. . In my garage it would end up on the floor or collecting dirt...
Think i'm gonna paint the hats on my discs also... be nice to not have rusty brakes
nah. Then you'll have flaking paint with rust spots.

goggles and gloves? what is this madness you speak of?!

I really wish i had gotten the parts to convert to a 24 spline input shaft.. but maybe next year... gonna have that nice stock converter making sure i'm all in by 1800 :)

What's funny is i want a hemi SOOO BAD... but i know soo many guys that had theirs die for stupid reasons (most seem to be that valve train geometry) that i would be afraid to beat on it if i had it....

One thing I do try to keep track of it the base.
if it has lithium or lithium complex base, then I try to stick with lithium complex base.
its usually on the container somewhere.
A few of the bases are not compatible. I don't think its a big issue, just don't want it to bite me in the ***.

yeah.. this is all new stuff and bearings and that, won't be mixing anything... can't wait to see all the new goodies installed :)

Figured out what caused the electrical arc on the transformer in front of the house. Yesterday's storm dislodged the charcoaled remains of a bird onto the the lawn.
I had been seeing a Golden Eagle cruisin' around the rock farm and scoping out the nearby farm ground. Saw it perched on one of the power poles across the street numerous times. The rock plant was running, my plant was done for the day and shut down. In the middle of doing my reports on the computer the power goes out. Look out the window and the rock heads are scurrying around in panic mode. Crushers backed up and stopped, conveyors buried, materials contaminated . Boss came and checked on me "Go home. We try again tomorrow."
Out the gate I go. Up the street at the edge of the broccoli field I passed the smoldering remains of that eagle in the ditch under the power lines.

No. oddly I don't have much interest in those sort of Hemi projects.
I am not a restoration person myself.. i just want solid mechanicals and fun to beat the piss out of.. I never understood going to car shows when you can go the dragstrip :)

Hemi in a B-body or an '68 A/S A/SS car would be interesting to me.
I'm actually kindof fascinted with Max wedge cars. I think in part due to the factory long ram intakes and the cast 'headers' some came with. Just cool looking.

Agree. I find car shows are interesting when I'm looking for original unrestored or really well done restorations for information. I like seeing how the really early cars are set up and operated ( 1920s and earlier) Even more interesting if I'm going or meeting friends at a show.

Drag strip I have a love hate relationship with. My experiences at Atco and Englishtown were a lot of waiting and little running. Island and Maple Grove both had nice amount of runs for the times spent there. Also had people I knew to meet up with so that was always a plus.

Autocross was often a full day, but at least 4 runs (except Divisionals). Between work and the axle damage l didn't even renew my membership this Spring. Everything has gone FB and I'm not on FB - so much for the social aspect.

Neighbors came for a visit this morning. They are very comfortable with me and are usually here in the morning and evening

Sadly most of my drag strip time was just watching, which i enjoy so it was ok :) Only decent strip around is Milan.. best hot dogs ever.. I'm not sure if all strips are the same but the sun just punishes you at that strip. it's like it has a vendetta..

Maple Grove in the evening can be pretty nice. High up and surrounded by greenery. But usually in the day its almost as bad as playing in a parking lot.

We went to Atco every Friday night in high school. Usually 20 cars deep cruising there. Run what you brung, you parked cars right at the fence watching racing and drinking beer

If we got to Irwindale early enough, we back the pickup up to the fence at the end of the bleachers on the pit side, set up the lawn chairs and open the ice chest
