Yep, just saw that....
Always the way...

Chrysler made the 318 LA motor for almost 30 years... you'd think you could find a part for it at a parts store. (Went to 3... Autozone, Carquest and NAPA)

At least the guy at Autozone had a sense of humor when he struck out on everything I wanted when he asked "Sure you don't want an air freshener.. we got lots of those"

Good morning everyone. Decided against the local car show. Marie isn't feeling great. There are 2 shows next weekend. It will be fine. Yesterday I got a gate made for thr dog pen, mowed thr grass, took hot rod for a drive and made the panel for the Demon. Today, I want to stain the opening shelves in the kitchen.
Sorry to hear Marie isn't feeling well. Glad you're getting things done

@memike
Thanks Mike. I have a plan for this Bad Boy:thumbsup:

Thank you , so glad a friend picked that deal up, old stock stuff is built right
Good morning men.....took 67 out for a run yesterday, first time with power disc brakes, a conversion my brother started. Well, engine does not produce enough vacuum to operate the booster. Dang. So a vacuum pump I guess....
What about a canister, some vacuum storage, I seen a few racers back in the day run them because of not enough vacuum taking off ! But that was back in the day.

Mike's right.
is it just at idle or is it at all rpm?
Cannister acts like a capaciter to help cover for idle and Wide open throttle, at least a bit.

Off idle if its not pulling decent vacuum, something is wrong.

My answer to the K-H booster was to sell it. :)

Boy there sure are a lot of engine running bad / timing / carb issues on the sites right now. It's hard to help by just by reading posts from people that don't know much about what's going on.

Local Auto zone has most parts for the Valiant.
fan belts.with or without a/c or power steering. They had them all.

My cousin is the service manager for a Chevy dealership, they’re having a rash of fuel system failures too. He said lots of bad gas going around all over. Said a bunch of stations getting caught pumping water into their tanks and others are running them so low that it’s picking up all the sediments

The issues I was talking about here are more ignorance related and not fuel related. :BangHead:

Well the Valiant did a nice round trip pa. To jersey and back.
I'm almost going to hate pulling this engine.

I shy away from those anymore. A lot of good advice, then the I Know more then everyone else. Or only give half the info.

Well today was a defeat…the valve covers didn’t go as planned. I need a spacer for them. I should have checked that before getting into it. So I put the old valve covers back on for now but the gasket split putting them on so that one is no good. I’m sure these are stupid mistakes. So I’ll have to park her for now and order parts.

I had to use a 3/8 inch spacer on my 408. I used my 273 covers and no way they would clear the roller rockers i used. They are a real nice piece, but dang pricey..

Thank you. I was searching for what to use. I’m just overly frustrated right now. I’m assuming you still use gaskets with that also?

Just a thin coat of black RTV between the head and spacer, then a gasket between the cover and spacer. And use studs, not bolts. Install the studs, put RTV on, thin, then slide the spacer over the studs, then RTV, thin, gasket, RTV. Tighten down. No leaks for me....

thank you very much. I truly appreciate the help

If using cast iron heads, then you might need to use a thicker RTV layer between the spacer and head.....
