Stop in for a cup of coffee

Speedo's drive me nuts. My 66 speedo worked good with an occasional needle bounce. I pulled the cable to replace the firewall grommet that Ulf sent me and it went into fits. I have pulled the core numerous times and reinstalled and lubed and now it doesn't work at all. Just a occasional jump. No clue!

Check the speedo gear in the tranny. A sticking cable strips the socket where it goes into the gear making it jump and eventually stop working.

I had some stare time with my slant six.

For my early A project I have been thinking all along V8 and what it would take to get a 73 340 that I have in there.

Then I look and stare at a slant six I have that runs perfect, hasn't been started for a year and I put some gas in it today and Wirrrr wirrrr duga duga duga......rrrroooooooooommmmmm.....

so why not.

I think I am going to stop attempting body work for awhile and focus more on getting more cars running.

Body work takes forever and it's really hard to stay focused. I am digging getting a car running and running it Joe Dirt. Twice I had a car on the road that looked shabby but ran like a silver ape, and twice I let my dad shame me into getting it off the road on the grounds of looking shabby.

This time I don't care how shabby my car looks to everyone, I am going to drive what I want.

See what a rebel I am LOL

A slant is a damn fine engine and hard to kill. I'd run that in the early A happily! It just seems so right for those cars as true drivers.

my car is a 63 so I am pretty sure the slant was the only option that year, so that is starting to seem fine to me

Help.

Still working on my buddies 87 ram charger, I can't get the power steering pump pulley off to put on the new pump. Broken 2 pullers trying.

Right on! It will make a great driver. I have a 408 that I was thinking about putting in my Swinger. Dang, that 318 2 barrell runs real nice. I think I'll put the 4 barrell on and see how I like it. Maybe after I get a little bored I can cam it. Heck by then late model Hemi's will be a dime a dozen and I can go that way. Bottom line is, keep what you have and enjoy what it has to offer. Oh by the way, my Mopar buddy wants that stroker for his next project. lol

I need to do that. I get the 66 out every now and then and forget it needs some fixin'

I had hell getting mine off as well. I heated up the pulley, tightened the puller, whacked it with a hammer, got a little movement.. heated again, tightened puller, whacked with a hammer. Rinse and repeat. About 6 iterations and finally got it off..

I may try that. Just can't risk damage to the pulley

I marred the 'grab ring' on the pulley a little when i did mine. But all the damage was done dicking with it before i went with heat and whack theory. I think it would have come off without a nick if I'd done it that way from the start.

Don't

Is it raining in the garage? That's the best place to spend a rainy day.

That is where I spent most of my day. I got some organization done. Messed with the carb, which Im frustrated with and then organized some more.

Oh and had to make an emergency run to the vet today for my dog.. She got her foot caught on something in the back floor area of my truck when we went for a ride and tore off her toe nail and scraped her other foot. Found out they dont do anything for it, but wrap it up.. I had blood all over the carpet of my truck.. Thank gosh most of it came out.

A Graphic Artist friend of mine came over today and I helped him fix some creaking sounds on his '06 SRT that I had fixed on mine previously. He took some interesting photos while he was here...
