My buddy from Church's Sister brought me her Subaru Forrester here today for just an oil change and wiper blades and general check over. She told me that the engine coolant light had come on briefly and then off the other day. Had low coolant in the radiator and no coolant in the overflow tank. Started it up and let it run up to temp after I finished everything else.. Went to take trash to the street, check mailbox, etc... Come back and hear screetching. Look under the hood of the Subaru, and grab the upper radiator hose. Coolant is squirting out of a crack in the plastic tank next to the hose on to the serpentine belt...YUP....Needs a Radiator now and a couple of hoses. Radiator will be here tomorrow morning. Guess her Brother needs to ride her home tonight........Nothing going on around here today. Did a bit of work in the garage this morning and house is clean and grass is mowed.
A trip to the store for a sympathy card and some other goodies. I stopped at Hy Vee for some plastic pot scrubbers and this followed me home.Nothing going on around here today. Did a bit of work in the garage this morning and house is clean and grass is mowed.

Run!So, I just had this cheap Charlie customer call me asking about putting an alternator on his '01 BMW 740il. After a little investigation I find out it's a water-cooled alternator and it's in a bad spot. The alternator alone rebuilt would cost me $1,000. No. Thank you. I don't think I need that job. LOL

Hard to say. There are sooo many out there now. I need to get a new one myself. Mine's 20 years old, and I've repaired the wires twice already. .Frank would know best I think...What's a good OBD scanner that will work with a diesel engine?
