Not a lot of North South roads in central PA. The mountains make everything go sideways.
We are the Mountains to most of PA
Except for the Poconos, which is Occupied New York pretty much

Supposedly great in concert but I don't really want to see him. I do like 10th Ave. Freezeout tho, esp. the horns
Around here you can rent out a shed for $1000 the weekend of a game. Stupid

So Willy....you are into the Civil war history right? What are your thoughts of the gold at Dents run? Think the Grubberment got it?
I'm more into the weird period between the end of the Revolution and start of the Civil War, but I did spend a few years doing CW reenactments.
Quasi War, Corps of Discovery, War of 1812.. etc
Not familiar with the Dents Run story .. I'll have to look it up

Not any longer. It's very time consuming
I do still have all my 1812 and Wayne's Legion kit though
I am actual a bit intrigued by that. Would not doubt it at all.
Some historians figured out where a load of gold disappeared in Elk Co. So they started to dig and the Goverment stepped in. I know one of the guys who was running the back hoe. He said they came in escorted him off the site, set up tents and were gone the next day. Crazy story

My brother and I had a camp just a few miles from there and fished Dents run and hiked ....wish I would have found it
I'll tell you what tensions were high and I am surprised no one was shot. That is a redneck area for sure and for the FBI to come in like they did. They are lucky and I think that is why they did it in just a few short days and then were out
Not much in the way of Confederate incursions that far North. Could be believable that during the Gettysburg Campaign, troops getting called back to Gettysburg stashed some items, but I don't know that the U.S. would have been moving anything out that far away. Not a lot of roads. Things moved East West on the Forbes or Braddock Roads....
Interesting nonetheless.
It is quite a distance into the Union territory
Most people don't realize how far into Pennsylvania Lees troops went. If the militia hadn't burned the bridges over the Susquehanna River at Harrisburg, could've shifted things and G-Burg might never have happened.
