Stop in for a cup of coffee

That was my thinking when I put those in there...Might get a set for my 69. I am getting good at gear swaps!!
Yeah, my ‘69 has 3.91 from the factory and I wish they were 3.55 to make Highway driving better. Switching to the 15” wheels and tires helped. My final drive ratio is 3.73 now which is decent.

Ok I'm back need a. Real blood sugar was at 62.
The GTO is a torque monster as most Pontiac are.
If I just run thru the gears then hit the button to shift into O.D.
At say 60 MPH.that car will pull to a buck ten like nothing great highway cruiser with that unit.plus no clutch to push to split gears.

I'm curious as to the ratio in the polara. Gonna have to get it back on the lift and find out. Did you see I'm having to fight the drums again?! I think I have a busted spring in them. I had them moving freely until I pressed the brake pedal as I was rolling . Locked the right front up and it won't release again

Wheel cyl sticking.

Hmm yeah. Question. Do disc brakes really stop that much better than drums?
Depends. can't generalize like that. Take for example a 12"x3 front drum vs. 10" dia disk with a small pad and everything else is equal. In some ways its never equal because some people judge by braking effort on their foot. A duo-serve drum setup kicks butt in that regard. You can go on and on. Its all about how it works as system and whatr your goals are. For road racing and such, a well done disk setup is almost always preferable...

The drums keep the off gassing in side them. causing fade. The disc has a way for the off gassing to dissipate. simple as that really..

I think its much more about the better heat dissapation under repeated use, and less distoration when really hot. Also some people panic when drum brakes start to fade - because all the mechanical adventage of the self-engerizing fades away with it. Not to say their aren't crappy OEM front disc systems. Many a first gen SHO owner found that out. And there are some Subies that even in autocross seem a bit undersize in the front brakes.
