Stop in for a cup of coffee

We had a dog run,280 foot cable with a pulley and a 20 foot leash.
Doghouse was about in the middle. One day i look out and she is standing on her doghouse, on her hind legs trying to disconnect leash from the pulley.
I was suprised she could figure that out.
Wow!! She was a smart one for sure!
 
What's his car got for ECU? Is it hooked up to a Chrsyler box or a HEI - that's one of the things TB does or offers with.


It's all MP electronic and a chrome box...

Had a hell of a day yesterday...

Eddie came over with the Dart and we had to redo a few things that the trans guy had done.... This trans guy (John Cope) is supposed to be good, but we found some issues with his work... The intake that he took off when he changed the lifters was not torqued to spec, the throttle cable bracket was bent waaay out of square, the stud on the carb for the accelerator cable was LOOSE, kick down was not adjusted, the header collectors leaked and we had to put new gaskets on them...

Needless to say, we will not be using him any more.....

There's supposed to be a different guy who is said to be a 727 trans specialist in northwest IN that we are going to try for our next trans jobs to see how he does....

Then when we looked at the distributor, one of the wires was only hanging on by a few strands, so we tried to take one from another distributor that I had.... That turned into a fiasco.... :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

After changing the reluctor plate with one from my new distributor, we also changed one of the springs to a lighter one for a better curve, then we installed it and went to tune it, and there was no curve.... Just a straight timing from 1000 to 2500 RPM.... So we took it apart again to fix that, and when we were putting it back together it would spin free by hand, then get a hang up when we were trying to put the reluctor back on.... It started getting dark, so we abandoned that and installed another distributor that I had an Accel....

When we installed the Accel straight out of the box, we could not get it timed right... When we had it at 20° initial and 36 total, it would back fire... We backed it off to 15° initial and it still backfired.... I ran a sweep to get it to max vacuum at idle and it was at 34° initial.... We set it back to 20° initial and hooked up the vacuum advance, and it was way over 45° total advance and back fired even worse....

So we set it back to 17° initial with no vacuum advance with 34° initial and took it for a test drive and it was terrible... Very sluggish and the exhaust is now very loud - we think we blew out one of the mufflers with all the back firing while trying to tune it.... :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

We didn't feel comfortable with how it ran, and it was dark then, so Eddie got a ride home and left the Dart here...... :mad:

All this headache over an almost broken wire...:BangHead:
Sounds like my day went better than yours - and I was at work! I started cleaning out water line filters, found electrical problems...but left with the machine ready to run :thumbsup:

Oh I believe they can for sure. They can also tell time! Especially when it is time to eat lol.

Yes, they have good body clocks that know when it's time to eat...

Mine keeps trying to bump up eating time earlier and earlier... I have to make him wait sometimes so he doesn't keep bumping it up and change the schedule...
 
The wires should be fine they have enough separation bet you have two wires switched have done that and it idled well.

My sister's dog does also. Can't change it though because he is diabetic.

I can go and trace them more carefully.... They have some places where it's easy to confuse what wire you are trying to chase...
 
Do it when you change out the distrib. Hey I have all sorts of pickups if that's what you need from old store stock to nos MP ones and springs if that's all it needs.
 
Just saw the specs let me look at that 360 one in the shop in a bit can let that go cheap did it for a guy and no pay, if not the 72 340 will work great.

Matt what are you thinking for mech/vac? Before I go look at the sheets on them. Hopefully I will get office installed at Mitch's this week by his renter.
I don't know the later 340 and 360 curves but they've got to be close. Maybe a little too much early because they were set with so little initial, but otherwise good.
10 - 14* initial and 20 - 26* in the distributor.
 
This what I was getting with the Chrysler built MP distributor measured on the car. Had a 26* plate in it, so may have been another degree or two I couldn't measure because I couldn't slow the engine enough. This would seem to be a pretty good match for your buddy's car because it should idle with 10 to -14* no problem.

273 Power Pack - dual point. Timing when set to factory initial. (a few degrees more or less than initial always allowed depending on local conditions and fuel).

OK that exhaust pic reminded me of something the exhaust on the pop is just clamped together right now instead of welding it together thinking of brazing it so I can take it apart like in the old school days any thoughts on it?

and that's the way to run the wires!
On certain magnum engines, there's a factory bulletin about wire routing. Sometimes its really important, not sure why other than maybe firing order....

If it's sealed right now and doesn't leak, leave it clamped... If you weld it and need to work on something under it will be easier to be able to loosen just one pipe vs both....

I was telling Eddie yesterday that I had a system done in the 90's with an H-pipe that the guy split in middle of the H-pipe and clamped it so we could separate the pipes if we needed to access the trans etc to work on it..,.
