Well, just got off the phone with my brother, stationed at Camp Lejune, in North Carolina, apparently the news report the entire base was being evacuated were wrong. Only select units, mostly aviation units were moved. Rest are staying and the base commander has turned the base into a shelter for people fleeing the storm.

You need a better news source. The AP had the same info your brother told you earlier today.
 
I haven’t been able to focus on much in the past few days, but I did manage to spend a bunch of time today carefully revising this image. It needed a ton of work from where I left it last.

Oops, I forgot to check in. Got the brakes done on the Buick. I had a brake/traction control light on so I plugged in the scan tool to check for ABS codes. No codes but I did find a brake bleed function in special tests that cycles the ABS pump and power bleeds. Weird, you step on the brake pedal and hit the start button and the pump kicks in and the pedal goes to the floor. It does that a few cycles and then it's done. I did that whole procedure 3 times and the light is out. Bingo! Good thing I didn't sell Mitch that scanner. It's only good to 2000 but I fooled it and it worked on my 2006.

I need to practice up on the scanner. I was into places that I didn't even know existed. I might have to use it for a trade in someday. Cheaper than updating.
 
No because I don't have the 4K to drop on a scan tool for them... and the shops around here are dumber than a box of rocks

You don’t need a scan tool for $4k, you just need an OBD II reader and a manual. Only about $400 bucks. Spend a few bucks more and get a multi-vehicle scanner/tuner and do everything.

Like I said, you don't understand how it all works.
 
Also, did you know you can read the OBD II stored codes on a Mopar since 2000 without even needing a scan tool of any kind?

It’s called the “key trick” and it will display any stored code in the system.

My scan tool, good to april 2018.
Due for its next update,$75/month to access fap-off’s database.
Paid 3800,to replace it today is 5 grand.

Cadillac rear brakes-electronic parkbrake.
Scan tool commands them to wind in,then back out after pad replacement. I havent used scanner in a month.
 
People talk about these modern electronic systems like they are some huge over complicated mystery...but they aren’t.

In fact, they are far more user friendly now than they were 20 years ago.

Did you know you can use the key and/or a combo of other simple actions to perform the following without any need for a scanner or other electronic tool?

Read OBD II codes
Clear stored OBD II codes
Recalibrate electronic throttle position sensor and range
Recalibrate steering angle sensor
Recalibrate brake pedal position and ABS actuation index
Reset base factory program parameters for all computer controlled systems
Clear and reset all PCM, TCM, BCM, FCM and other modules

The system isn’t terribly complicated and is just an layer on top of the basic sub systems. Once you understand it, it isn’t any harder than figuring out how to use a computer and send an email for the first time.
