Supercharged 6.4L in a 64 Valiant

I gutted the power steering pump and removed the reservoir. You can barely see it now. I am going to use an EPAS unit. You can't run a power rack on an early A-Body.

Is the EPSU a modified OEM unit, or aftermarket?
I just purchased one for a Saturn Vue, that should work well.

Aftermarket. Unisteer. From everything I've read, Saturn is the way to go if you want to piece it together yourself. There's a great thread on a Ford Falcon (TFFN) site I'm on. Someone did it for $100.

There are no headers made on planet Earth for this swap. 6.4L/NAG1/RMS Alter K/1964 Valiant.

Going to attempt my hand at making them myself. I'm going to tack them with a MIG and TIG them on the back bench.

Ordered the bends and collectors from SPD. They were very helpful and encouraged me to give it a shot.

Oooooh. As if this build wasn't beautiful enough already ;)

Looking forward to that header build.

Working from underneath with the flange bolted in place I tack welded the first bends. It's a long process with lots back and forth from the bench to the car and a couple of the header bolts are real PITAs.

I remember a quote by the late and great Mr. Tom Hoover.

"everyone should have to build one set of headers.....but no one should have to build more than one"

it can be humbling (that's from me)

I borrowed one of the electric assist power steering set ups that was being removed from a (USAC) Midget race car. I just could not find the room under the dash....too many pedals.

I can only image the squeeze to get everything in there.

Yes. Would certainly be more challenging with a stick/clutch. I looked into the Midget set ups at Speedway Motors and the weight they can handle wouldn't work.

Forgot to weld in the O2 Sensor bungs to the header. So I will add them to the collector pipe.

Everything is metric on the Gen3 so I just cut out the old bungs.

Started on the brake and accelerator pedals. The 6.4L brake pedal has a sensor that is needed for the NAG1 trans. The 6.4 accelerator pedal is "fly by wire" and is needed for the throttle body.
