For reference, here is the shape / configuration of the Weiand on my big block.

Some nice TR engines here, here's my ported Weiand with a pair of tricked out early TQs....makes a sweet noise ;)

Can’t remember if I’ve posted in this thread. Eventual induction for the duster. 660s, TR1Y, tach drive distributor. All the 70s nonsense.

FYI. The old Edelbrock TR5 is a tunnel ram for the 340-360. The top half/plenum is tall and bloated. Quite unappealing cosmetically. But I read (Here I believe) that the replacement top for the SBC unit will bolt to the TR5 bottom and thus give you the same unit as in Turboo440Darts pic. The TR5 pops up for sale often .

That’s how I made my street t ram. Ordered a Chevy top from summit and bolted right on to my tr5. Don’t know if it’s still available from summit. Great street intake.

That top wasn’t available the last time I looked which was several years ago. They may be back in stock now, but the Chevy top bolts right on, contrary to what Edelbrock says.

I definitely didn’t know that about the interchangeability of the tops. Thanks for that.

Respectfully, you'd be very likely hurting the performance of that intake if you made that change on just about every application.

I believe for the street the smaller compact plenum is desirable. That higher height bloated plenum is something no other manufacturer copied. Well not like the TR5. Weiand has the boxy rectangular plenum which as a member here stated is better for race application. I've never run a TR5 . But I find that plenum looks hideous. Reminds me of canned food that has gone bad and is expanding the can it's in

Here is the old school TR my FIL was running 50+ years ago. I have put the original cross-ram back on, and the TR and carbs are on a shelf in my shop.

Not on the street. Had mine on a mild 340 with 3.55s. And 2800 stall. Was 2 tenths better than my rpm and 750. Same 60ft. I don’t see that with the big top. Midrange torque was exceptional. Same mph also. I still have the big top. I guess I could see.
