I had a 318 in my 78 asper rt 4/speed after putting the usual hot rod parts/intake/ duels and a small 273 solid lifter cam with 424 lift 650 holley / going down the hwy a 68 383 roadrunner pulled up and wanted to go /so we slowed down to about 30mph and nailed it well to my surprise I pulled away with no problem so i slowed down to the 55mph required at that time so he could catch up /well we pulled over and asked me if I special ordered the car with a big block / he told me how he just got his car out of the shop having it performance tune and it never ran better /so i lifted the hood and showed him the 318 /he said it must be a 360 then I told him they wouldn't sell a 360 with 4 speed that year o/d trans. then he crawled under the car to look at the 318 on the side of the block when he stood up he asked me to tune up his car because he was going to put a *** wiping on the guy who tuned his I guess those 383 were over rated like people say
Here he is shifting without lifting..... I don't know what there is not to like about the car. 8.8's at 77 mph and with the clutch gone....
Bottle Rocket, One And Done! ...for the night, at least. - YouTube
IMO, UT’s “street cred” took a big hit after that 318 build died on Nicks dyno.
The bottle rocket 318 eating two flat tappet cams didn’t help either.
That could have been used as a “teaching moment” for the channel....... but instead they just swapped to a roller.
I don’t want a big, heavy pig of a car with a TV and all that **** in it and on it. Very few of the new cars actually run what they claim to run.
On top of that, the Gen III Hemi, the LS and the Coyote are as ugly as sin. They are so GOD awful ugly, they have to put engine covers on that crap. Just gross.
Even the lowly Flat Head Ford is a thing of beauty when it’s dressed up.
I’d like to see a “Non Cheap-O” build starting with replacement hi-comp slugs.
I think it's kinda cool seein big heavy pigs go fast. It takes a lot of patience and time to get there. We have a member here who is a local friend of mine who has a late 70s Grand Fury wagon that indexes in the mid 12s through the 1/8. I think it's in the 7s in the 1/8? I'm not good with those conversions, but it's QUICK for a 5300 pound wagon. Stock bore and stroke, naturally aspirated, pump gas 440 with a FULL interior ready to take a pile of friends to the ice cream store and smoke rustangs on the way and back. That's impressive, I don't care who you are and if you don't like it, turn in your Mopar card. I love stuff like that.
That’s not only impressive but very cool.
To me, that is 1000 times more impressive than a 3000 pound 10.90 car.
Ok, so this is not a Mopar but I've had the privilege of watching this car run many times at Minnesota Dragways back in the 60s. Richard Charbenou campaigned a 67 Ford ES/A station wagon that made people take notice. That’s not only impressive but very cool.

He was doing "neutral drops" back then and if my memory serves correctly he was the reason or part of the reason why the NHRA banned competitors from doing that. Too many blown trannies and too big of an advantage over the guys that couldn't afford to do it.THAT is VERY cool.
it worked for 426 ohyeah he built a 9000 rpm stroker in the kitchenIf you’re doing it in the kitchen, you can use the dishwasher to clean parts...... plus, you’re closer to the snacks.
Those two things are probably what conspired against the success of the build that went up to Nicks.
Who????it worked for 426 ohyeah he built a 9000 rpm stroker in the kitchen
Just a joke , wish the guy would return and give some real info .Please guys. Don’t go there.

Yeah it seems like that got swept under the rug and forgotten...IMO, UT’s “street cred” took a big hit after that 318 build died on Nicks dyno.
