What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Fixed the broken fuel pump switch. Got a new Group 65 1000/850 (CA/CCA) battery for $98 (with 5-year warranty, 3 year free replacement) to replace my old and weak Group 41 800/650. Of course despite all my planning and reviewing of battery pictures, I still managed to get a battery with the locations of the positive and negative posts reversed! I had to remake one short cable (from the kill switch to the positive post) because it wouldn't reach. Anyway it cranks much better now.
After spending the last two afternoons hopping from the seat to under the hood, I just don't feel like playing with the carb right now. It's mid 60's and sunny but rain is coming tomorrow 100%.

Engine is now ready for install. Time to run the new efi fuel lines.

Thanks to mosleyme for posting a how to @ 1968 Barracuda Front Fender Modification for 26" Tires I was able to cut 1” out of my front fenders to fit my tires. The front disk brakes widen the track so the tires hit the corner of the fender. Not anymore after busting out the cutoff wheel and cheap $60 welder and a beautiful sunny day. I’ll clean up the welds at a later date, for now I can drive to the alignment shop.

Sunny and 60° in central Pa today. Got to burn a 1/2 tank and no noise ordinance fines. What a blast. I really missed the 340 motor. Just love those revs.

i picked up a nicer exhaust for the duster the other day and today i decided to rip the old one uot and replace it

so, got it out, then i realized i only have one reducer gasket, so i guess im done for the day

I got my 360 fired up for the first time ever tonight with my boyfriend and our friend. We worked pretty much two days straight to hook up everything we needed just to get the engine going. I'm so thrilled as this is my first ever complete rebuild and to hear it come to life and run on its own is amazing. Now to hook up everything else and get her driving to ... Well, anywhere!

Yep ur done. Get that other reducer or tweak the timing and let er rip. Its only tires. Lol...

the new exhaust is an X pipe, fully welded so it would be tricky to only install one
so for now, im running open header (sorry neighbors)

What am I doing to/with my car today?

Apparently today I'm driving it to the store in the rain.:D
If I don't drive my car I have to drive different car in the rain.

i was gonna install the new exhaust today, but the wife got called in to work (extra meetings because of the corona virus) so i guess ill do some yard work instead

Long afternoon yesterday swapping accelerator pump cams, squirters and finally IAB's. Now I think my off-idle lean spot is just about gone. Secondaries are way too rich but that's an easy fix. I've caught a cold (despite hand-washing and sanitizing since long before the epidemic) so it'll probably sit a few days. Weather forecast sucks anyway.

I'm on a 3 day weekend. ....heading out to the garage to put my 727 back together and reinstall it.....

Removed rockers to inspect valves and sure enough they are not ideally set up, my fault. So I got some measurements and am about ready to send off for some shaft mounting spacers. How bad are they really, I am shooting for narrower width and more centered wear marks on the valve tips. After that I couldn't leave her in pieces so slapped it all back set lashing and went for a cruise with a couple blondes before the snow started to fly:)

Sounds good! Nice

I got done everything I wanted for today. ...
The transmission is all back together and the battery is charging. ..
Tomorrow I'll bolt it back in and make my connections.

Good day!

Jeff

Because I also swapped out the valve body and a 3000-3400 stall torque converter. ...ya know, while i was at it!

Original problem was the rear servo spring retainer let go...

Jeff

Cool. I know all about the "while I'm at it" lol.

I read through your rebuild thread. Will be rebuilding my first transmission (904) soon. You wrote a great thread. Thanks!

Tried to undo the meanness of the previous owner who put a chain around the radiator support and pulled it.

This is on the current duster project.

From a few days ago, but got this car running and tuned and turned into a happy hot rod.

Drove almost all day into the night
