If me not drinking a couple of drinks in the garage was all it took to keep from making stupid mistakes well that would be golden!

I just go outside and look at my empty garage, on this emotional roller coaster waiting for my car to be completed at the paint and body shop. I just want it back so I can start fondling my 340 again.

Put on a Holley heat shield on my carb. I then swapped out the flex-a-lite fan out for a viscous clutch type my dad had in the garage. I also reset my TDC mark as instructed on this board, and found out the timing mark was actually running 10 initial instead of the 16 i thought I put in with the old mark. Runs much better.

Made up some bracketry and got the tranny cooler installed in front if the radiator support and the fan for it wired in. Has an 8" converter to cool...we shall see. Hoses yet to fab up and install. 20201122_225837.jpg

Later today, I am going to replace my sway bar bushings and brackets with more substantial ones and also add some new longer sway bar links. It's the Addco bar and the hardware they have is not great, but what I am going to replace it with is much, much better. I'll take pictures.

Finally got the components need to have windshield washers again!

Looks like my Dart hasn't had windshield washers for about 12 years.

Final check before dropping the engine tomorrow (again). 33179DCE-DF89-4F13-8F4D-DE7BBDD0D5CE.jpeg

Decided it was time for a new neutral safety switch. Yes, had a small transmission leak...

That made my day more than you know! I’m pretty new to old cars, and boy I’ve been chasing leaks like I’m playing Wack-a-Mole. Feels good to know I’m not the only one.

A big part of it is these newfangled oils and fluids
The particles are just so much smaller, they tend to squeeze through holes cracks and what not which with the old stuff were "liquid tight"

well, i tried to do a brake job on the plow truck but whoever owned it before me had put some ghetto rims on it, and i cant find a key for them anywhere

so i contacted a few online retailers, well see if anyone of em comes back with an answer

Exactly. My oil pan leaks from the drain plug and my newly rebuilt trans leaks from the ds yoke... I have some rubber mats under the car and wipe them off every weekend...

Put the fan back on, tightened belts, filled the radiator, made sure the plug wires were right, and lit er up.
Took it for an inspection sticker while breaking it in!! Too much timing, not enough tranny fluid, and something about my tranny cooler set up is leaking a bit but....

Installed a blue LED high-beam indicator on my homemade dash panel... sounds easy but there's plenty of stuff that has to be disconnected and hard to reach (speedo cable and oil pressure gauge line are the hardest). Also add a contact to the dash connector for the extra wire, find the harness wire going to the high beam relay and tap that. And I cracked the original 50-year-old brittle A-body plastic surround in several places, including the recessed part that holds the headlight switch :( Finally gave up trying to remove it from the dash, and worked on my knees next to the car!
So now I have to wait a while for the solvent cement to harden all those places that are c-clamped together. It's cold out there in the garage so I'll see if it's ready tomorrow afternoon.

What type of cluster. Post a picture. I might have a spare I'd let go ultra cheap.

Thanks, I think I have a spare too... I cut out most of the material from the vertical part and replaced it with a 1/8" aluminum plate that the gauges are actually mounted to. But there isn't a lot of plastic left. Still seemed easier than making the entire cluster out of aluminum...

I have a spare faceplate. Not the one in the picture. But that type. Keep me in mind if it doesn't pan out for you. My dashboard is done. So I'm good.
