What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Not a darn thing!

Should have been out driving in the nice weather but taking care of the wife's want's.

Installed a new Larson storm door on the front entry she has been wanting for the last 7 years when we bought the current house. Easy task short of the the 3 pane entry door that in no way accepts a storm door! I forgot just how versitle a radial arm saw is, it was the easiest to pull out of the shed. It ripped down and rabbited lumber easily to rough in the opening. The rest was a piece of cake! Those Larson doors are really easy to install with the adjustable side rails!

Got me that new repop 893 oil pan for it! So guess it counts towards to the car!

Happy wife happy life!

Knee deep into front end rebuild on the Dart. Steering shaft and hold-down plate were rusty, so might as well take out the steering column and grind everything down and paint. While taking out the steering column noticed the interior fire wall had surface rust; treated with SEM Rust-Mor; prep and paint. The idler arm castle nut wore a groove in the header tube, might as well take care of it, only took a few minutes to drop the header with everything out. With the LCA's out going to weld on stiffening plates this week. Sent the man steering box to Firm Feel; Dick called to tell me the worm gear is shot. It never ends....

Outside passenger door handle quit working several months ago. Got inside the door and found a rubber part worn on the door latch. Took a small piece of flat metal and fabbed a spacer, then wedged it between the rubber piece and the metal next to it. Works great. Saved $79.99 from buying a whole new mechanism. : )

Finished wrapping my exhaust with fiber heat wrap and clamped the ends. Got my Wagner adjustable PCV valve and custom front license plate. The moroso oil separator arrives tomorrow so that install will commence tomorrow evening.

The driver's seat on my Fury has 3 places now on the rows of stitching where the vinyl gave way. Decided to try Tear-Aid, type B (for vinyl) from Ace Hardware. I tested it on a small spot a couple weeks ago and it worked well. It's a clear self-adhesive patch they say won't get gummy. It has a little bit of stretch to it. You prep with alcohol (the repair area, not yourself.) You cut it to size then carefully place it while you remove the backing. I used a plastic trim-tool to keep even pressure on it while doing it, and to go over it briskly to get it stuck down good and tight. They say to round the corners when you cut the patch but I didn't read the directions that carefully. It has a matte finish so it's not too noticeable. The adhesive is fully cured in 24 hrs. Ten bucks seems pricey for only 12"x 3" of patch, but it is money well spent to take care of the problem. Hopefully it does.

Installed my APIPCO glove box. So much better than the cardboard shredded ruin that was in there. :( It was worth the $42. They have a great install video on their site. I used a dremel to cut out the hole for the light.

Also ordered a replacement LED bulb replacement to light up the glove box about $5.

Elected to keep some of the original deadening... Something about keeping a bit of the "OEM-ness" hidden under the sheets brings me joy.

Picked up the freshly reupholstered seat today.

Completely reupholstered - foam and all, for $350!

Oh... And I found another build sheet. That makes 3 total that I've uncovered. Pretty sweet.

Got my Wagner valve and the moroso separator and all that gets installed tomorrow. The pinion shims go in on Saturday and the pre tire shop testing starts Sunday for Monday delivery for tires and alignment.-----:)

Today I test drove my car for the first time, put about 60 cruise miles on it. Systems all worked well, particularly happy with the Gearvendors. Have a few things to tweak and in to the tire & alignment shop Monday. Couple shots------------------------:)

Used the quarter skin patch that came with my other car. If you look close you can see the body lines in the panel

finally broke down and bought some 15 inch rims
with the wheels off, i figured id replace the rear brake pads

now, im looking for a hardware set to replace all the broken springs

wouldnt you know it, the new rims interfere with the weight welded onto the drum...so now om looking for new ones of those as well

Today I R & R my fuel tank. The 50 year old fuel tank sending unit flange pulled loose from the main tank. Have new tank and strap in stock so today I will get it taken care of.
Will be looking at a way to better support and isolate my exhaust system as well.

I spent hours searching for the mathematical equation for figuring the pulse per mile.

Helps to read the instructions

Electric door locks for the 'Cuda
Added some Dynomat inside the door too....
It hard to get a decent picture of what's going on inside a door....
Locks work GREAT! Simple modern convenience that was hard to live without.
$23 flat, out the door from Ebay
