What specifically am I looking for? Went to the site but no luckI sell the comple kit that bolts in. No column cutting, no universal hoses...Bergmanautocraft.com
I do appreciate the advice and sharing this. If this was my major projects which is a 69 super bee it’s something I’d consider. I’m not gonna spend over $800 on a steering box for a car that I only spent $700 on. I have a coupler that will fit onto the steering box. I’m creative enough to figure out a way to weld something on to attach it to the actual steering shaft.
Tad, how about a couple photos of what you are trying to match up.
The straight coupler will not give you the length you need to make the connection. The universal joint part #013464 will have the proper 3/4-36 spline for your manual box and a 3/4 smooth bore for the shaft, the smooth end will need to be welded. You will need 1.5" between the shafts for proper shaft engagement in the universal joint.
You still need “plunge” to take up the movement of the chassis. This is why the coupler was designed the way it was. Besides, you need to be able to tie up angle as well.If I had a manual steering column I assume this would line right up with a regular coupler correct? Maybe that’s the route that I go.
Yeah it’s a bad angle. There is room if you’re down at the level of the shaft in the manifoldI'd use a stock manual steering center shaft and coupler if you have the room. Doesn't look like it with those manifolds......in fact.....from the angle of your photo, it doesn't look like any coupler will fit without rubbing.

It’s a 340 with 5.9 magnum manifolds. Was power steering but i switched to a manual steering box in order to fit the drivers side manifold. Still running the power steering column which is shorter. The old power coupler did not work.i think he ment to link THIS.

the stock coupler looks to be MIA. what motor and manifold is that?
Late by that much!

Already tried this adapter. It also adjusts for the difference in length. This puts the actual steering coupler right up against the manifold which won’t work. I need the steering shaft to be about 2 inches longer so that places the coupler more towards the Steering box. That way it will clear the manifold.

HERE is what you need , ALONG WITH the stock coupler. it stacks on top of the stock one to take up the space

if it won't fit, try loosening up the column mounts and see if you can move it over a little
I searched and asked a lot of questions prior to starting. There are so many opinions about whether the driver side manifold will fit or not, how to shim they driver side motor mount, cutting a few inches off of the steering tube to clear the manifold. I know the manual steering shaft will work. I just don’t have one. If one of these universal joint couplers doesn’t not work then I will spend time marking something that does.have you scoured the Early A forum to see if anyone else has done this, or what they use for an exhaust manifold?

cool, but it looks like either a early 340 manifold or a v8 early A manifold would give you the clearance you needI searched and asked a lot of questions prior to starting. I have 273 manifolds. However, everyone keeps saying these are very restrictive and choke the motor.cool, but it looks like either a early 340 manifold or a v8 early A manifold would give you the clearance you need
Plus you can have gasket sealing problems too.I have 273 manifolds. However, everyone keeps saying these are very restrictive and choke the motor.
