Thanks for this about Ferrea valves, I just ordered 4 replacment valves for a Magnum head with 5/16" stems that didn't fit. Measured valve stems installed at 0.308". Now I know where those valves came from.

Fuse block under the dash. My car had an open/unused fuse that was controlled by the ignition switch & was 12V with ignition on.

Just what I said, Empty fuse controlled by ignition switch - hot with engine run.

Put the drivers side manifold in the car and tie it off to the side, then put the engine in w/o manifolds on. Pass side manifold has room to put on after engine is in car.

I found a un-used fuse on my '64 Barracuda fuse block that was controlled by ignition switch.

See if this helps, I measured my 64 Barracuda Valiant script. From the trunk lip to the tops of the "V" is 9/16" down; the bottom of the letters are 2 5/8" down and the end of the tail of the "T" is 3 5/16" to the body seam at the right tail light.

B&M flex plate for a 360 for a 904 trans has a cut out section to ballance the 360 when used with a neutral converter. Worked good for me. A 904 torque converted that had the 360 ballance weights would work also.

I'm pretty sure Poly heads will fit LA 318 block, you'll have to use a poly cam & pushrods that go with the poly rocker setup and of course a Poly intake. I think the Poly pistons had 1 valve notch for intake valve only.

You said the idle screws are backed out 2 1/2 to 3 turns to get it to idle - 1 1/2 turn out is closer to what it should be. With the cam you have, I'm guessing that idle vacume is low. That lets the carburator jet needles lift - not enough vacume to hold the needle down in the jet. If this is...

I would go with the 270S cam, make sure the 273 rockers don't rub the valve springs or retainers. I would guess that a .060 over 360 would be fine with a stock converter & the gear you have. A dual plane manifold might be better but a single plane worked fine on my 360; if you find you need...

Some 318 engines were forgings with bushed rods for floating wrist pins. Casting numbers on 273 & early 318 should be the same. The 273 & 318 cranks have the same ballance. Early 273 has a smaller hub bore for torqueconverter hub.
