    New setup- 340 based 416, 360 based 387, or 360 based 408?

I’m not sure yet, I have to make some phone calls to see if the custom pistons are in fact cheaper than a 4” stroker crank and off the shelf pistons… this is where I’m at with it…

    5.9L Magnum questions

That's what I did when I swapped to a Magnum. I tore it down to just crank, pistons, and rods. Had them tear it down and hot tank it, polish the crank, new main, rod and came bearings, hone and new rings. I took it from there and finished the build with a reground cam from Oregon Cam...

Well we made it home. It was a long drive today. Our friend was burning lots of oil so we had several stops to make today. He ended up going through 4 quarts of oil today. In all fairness the 65 Impala be drove hadn’t been started since the 80’s and after he got it running he only put 500 miles...

Changing the fuel tank so before the new one goes in l’m refreshing the underside. Not fun work but the results are satisfying. Part way there, have one side prepped and primed.

Just a Note About New Lifters

With all the trouble trying to get new lifters and cams to mate well, we have another problem thrown in. Glad to see you caught it before they were installed. I bought a new cam and lifters and I guess it pays to see the internals of the new lifters before installation.

INDY RHS-X LA heads……any rocker suggestions??

Yours will work but you need to raise the shafts with shims this will move the shafts towards the center of the valves I had to do this with the rollers then but correct push rods , you can buy rocker shaft shims at many places

[FOR SALE] Older Comp cam for sale with lifters - $100 OBO + shipping

Hi Folks - I have an old Comp Cams cam for sale - CRS-268H-8 I installed it in about 1990, and removed it about a year ago during a full rebuild. The cam is in fine shape, and I identified the lifters carefully as I removed them. My best guess is that they have 60-70k miles on them. I'm in...

There was a thread somewhere on here where someone confirmed Johnson lifters are made overseas now.

Tranny Jack is a good idea. I'm working on my doors right now, it's a little more difficult than the quality glass. I think I'm going to cut out a strategic hole so I can easily get my wing window frames out. Unless anyone can tell me where the hidden bolt is

Just a Note About New Lifters

Are you saying they were full of oil and corroded in the bores? Trying to understand what the problem was. Did Johnson add oil after corrosion set in because they were laying around in their shop.

P.S. box rebuild FirmFeel or Steer & Gear?

I love to patronize small businesses. It sounds touchy-feely but I feel better knowing that my money is helping a small business owner succeed. Sometimes though, they let you down because they don't have the manpower to meet the demands.
