    Does this 318 sound healthy?

A vacuum gauge is very useful for showing what might be going on. Hook up a gauge to the manifold vacuum port of carb and take video of what it is like at idle, then goose the engine and quickly let go of the throttle to check the internals of the engine. You can look at the many vacuum gauge...

    Fuel tank for 66 dart

I bought a Dorman 576-022 tank (for '64-'66 Darts) for my '64 Dart and it fit perfectly.

    65/66 Dart Tail Lamp Bulb?

These would need a socket change but some people are using these bulbs.

    65/66 Dart Tail Lamp Bulb?

Maybe a 1073. It is listed as same watts as 1034 but I'm not sure what base socket it is.

'63 Valiant V200 wagon - rare bolt issue

Sounds like it is time to measure what the old bolt really is. Calipers for the O.D. and then count the threads per inch (or use a thread pitch gauge), or just take a 1/4-20 bolt and nest the threads together side by side. If the threads nest perfectly then it is a 20 tpi pitch. From what you...

    Cooling Issue - 1964 Dart GT - 273 with automatic and A/C

Just a side fact about the 1964 Dart radiator: Since the V8 was a late addition to the '64 Dart they did not use a different radiator support panel than the /6. Therefore the radiator is noticeably off center with the fan blade on '64 273 V8's. The fan blade overhangs to one side. But I doubt...

    OK....another decoding question.......

Yes, that part I decoded. It is the rest of the tag that is unknown.

    OK....another decoding question.......

An example of another 1964 body code plate for a Dart GT 273 V8 for comparison. My top line does have an 8 in it and the middle line cannot be decoded with any sense with online decoders. It just doesn't match anything on my car. But the number 5 under the A matches the authors V8 Barracuda...

    Floor pan replacements

There are various listings for the floor pans that say they fit 1962 Valiants.

    Steel wheel rusted to hub.....

The drum is sandwiched and should pull off the axle hub. There may be some retaining clip washers on the lug studs but usually they are long gone after doing brake jobs over the years.

66 Dart Convertible Replacement Floor Pans and trunk pans

Yes to Auto Body Specialties for me too. I was very impressed with how they fit and looked just like factory pans on my 1964 Dart. This photo is after I did some trimming for my area.

    ^^ Dart Info.

Have you already looked at the factory manual to start out? Here is the basic ID info page. Also, the Historical service Stellantis offers does still work but don't always expect to find anything. They responded "no information available for your car" to my request for a 1964 Dart info. They...

    Tires Tires,

I too am staying with the 13" wheels on my 1964 Dart V8. It is very frustrating to find the right size tires for this car but after many days of searching and finding dead ends I finally found the tires that are as correct as you can find and aren't trailer tires. The challenge is not what is...

    Tires Tires,

Make sure you are not looking at trailer tires. That is most of the 13" tires sold today. Look carefully at descriptions.

    Removing push button auto controls.

I looked at my '64 Dart and I see a set screw on the parking brake and wiper knobs but not on the headlight switch knob. This is what the '66 service manual says about that:

Do you have the 1964 service manual? If not then here is what it says. If you do have the manual then hopefully someone can fill in some tips.

'64 '65 Barracuda directional lamp question

Assuming you mean the turn signal light this how I did it on my 1964 Dart. Your socket should be the same but mounted inside a different reflector housing.

Want to stay stock with 13" tires, but can't get them

Yes, I was trying to order those at Coker but they were not in stock, backordered. Vredestein tires in this size were out of stock in every place I looked.

    273 HEAD GASKETS

If anyone actually knows of a 273 head gasket with the correct bore diameter other than special order, really expensive, Cometic gaskets please speak up. My understanding is that you have to use a 318 gasket now-days on a 273 because they no longer make 273 gaskets other than really expensive...

    1965 Barracuda Brake Pedal

Great timing! I was going to post with the same question for my '64 Dart. Could not find a brake pedal illustration anywhere in either the 64 or 66 FSM. Every other pedal except brake pedal had an illustration. I used PB Blaster on the pivot bushings and my pedal now moves freely. I also...

    Early A Fender Decode Please.

Almost no information available for decoding the early A body tags that I could find. You do have date made (04/07), body type (V49)(Barracuda?), and probably can find interior color and body color by searching. On my 1964 Dart I contacted Chrysler Historical (now Stellantis Historical...

    4 lb Intake

For the year of the engine there should be a casting date number on the side of the block passenger side near drain fitting. Compare that to your build date on fender tag. On my 64 Dart it worked that way.

    Very strange compression test results

OK, the engine runs like a champ after fixing the valve lash. It is still an old engine for sure but now it runs smooth and will drive. So I can drive it around a bit and see what else needs work without having to pull the engine first. I tested a few cylinders when it was warm and most...
