    fire extinguishers

I'll say YES to having an extinguisher. I've actually had the joy(?) of stopping two vehicle fires way before they got out of hand. On one I was working in a bicycle shop as young man, woman comes in screaming "My car's on fire!". Walk outside (w/extinguisher) to see little licks of flame coming...

"Dizzy", "Chally" and smart phones BS

And I thought carby and dizzy were Australian slang. Yes I sometimes curse, here in writing, but otherwise it at least appears I may have made it through high school... I wonder if some here have not? At the same time there seem to be some reasonably sharp folks (mechanically) here, that can't...

    110 Octane at the pump

Not going to berate your choice of fuel, but as others have said, highly likely you don't need that much. I used to have a bike that ridden hard in hot weather would ping. Local station had CAM2, don't remember the octane rating. A quart of that to two gallons of 93 or 94 worked wonders...

    Holy S**t People

Thanks Guys, For letting me know I'm NOT the only one feeling this way. My ex-girlfriend was a stickler for manners, and couldn't understand my frustration with a$$holes on the road. I told her people need manners on the road, too, and anything else is just arrogant and offensive. I won't use...

    Formula S, could it be?

Not saying right or wrong, but I never saw "late" A. I surely have seen "lightweight" A in the Mopar chassis bible.

if i was to sell this alternator

Why would there be a charging problem? That pulley will speed it up! Need a bigger pulley to slow it down... And that's only a half polished turd, I mean alternator. Still look better than flaking/blistering chrome in a few years.

    Modular helmets

"Cheap" helmets have changed a lot in the last 25 years... There are lots of Snell approved ones even. I used to wear nothing but Arai lids, but as you already found out, they're the most expensive ones out there. In the last 13 or 14 years I've had a number of cheaper helmets that were of...

Live in the Northeast? Or Plan To? Better Stock Up On Earplugs!

I gotta say, I love the sounds of the cicadas, both day and night. Of course, they can startle the **** out of you once in a while... Kinda creeps me out when a flying bug that size bounces off me, like the day one came through the vent in my old D150 and was bouncing all over the interior, all...

All Hail The Road Salvage Gods!!!!!

Back around 1983 someone dumped an entire, assembled front clip for a '79 Z28 on the street in one of Philadelphia's most affluent neighborhoods. Left in a small parking lot in a park, actually. I saw it and went and got a couple of friends to help me load it in my D-150. I then traded it to a...

    Dakota Digital....

One of my customers has been running their "one gauge that does everything" (speedo, odo, trip, tach, clock) for 5-6 years on his Triumph without any issue as far as I can recall. Can't remember the last mileage I saw on it, but gonna say 15-20,000. Might it be the vibration of the big V-twin?

    Bike / race helmet "crossover?"

Not only is there confusion with with SA and M standards (and there are differences beside fire retardance) but some bike helmet manufacturers are getting away from Snell in favor of BSI (British Standards Institute) or other EU ratings. I always thought Snell certified bike lids were...

    Loctite or anti seeze??

I think what 69mope is referencing is "Stage 8 Locking Fasteners"... Google them. I'd go for safety wiring them. Install them to proper torque, then mark where you want to drill them, pull'em and drill. You want the wire to be pulled in the direction of tightening, not just connecting the two...

So, there was a big custom car show this past weekend near me, with vendors there. What are they selling? Bacon Jam... A bacon spread in a jar. It never ceases to amaze me how badly some people can ruin something. Even those with good skills. My very first thought was, "hey, heavy 70's flake"... Then I saw the white (totally out of place afterthought), the rocker/quarter treatment, the exhaust (are you phukkin' kidding me?), the...

Thinking of Getting A New Phone

I too have hit ebay up. I had an old LG phone that crapped out, got another (used) for $10 and put my SIM card in...Got me along for another year until AT&T made changes in their system (and my service became spotty), then I finally got a new phone.

What Did You Get To Do Growing Up That Your Kids Will Never Be Able To?

Goldfish, you hit it on the head, I remember in the late 60's you could even get baby alligators at Woolworth's! I remember drag racing my best friend on our sting-ray style bikes (not genuine Schwinns) behind the shopping center that Woolworth's was in, and him not being able to slow down...

    Lol chevy guys

All I know is, my buddy (a mopar guy) just bought a solid '69 camaro for $600... Solid, been in a one car garage untouched for the last 30 years. Gotta cool looking patina on a somewhat wild paint job from the early '70s, big block springs up front, a hot 327, turbo 400 and 4.10 12 bolt...
