    calculate rear axle ratio

I thought that also, tryed it , it doesn't work. One turn of the wheel will give you about 1 1/3 revolutions on the drive shaft.

    calculate rear axle ratio

:study:I just turned my rear wheel 10 times, while counting the driveshaft weight @ 16 times. I think I was supposed to count the drive shaft yokes, that would have given me 32 revolutions. which I think would be 3.23 gears. Do you guys agree or did I do it wrong? thanks Walt:coffee2:

    8 3/4 yoke question

They have been broken for a long time and were rusted pretty good, I keep soaking them with pb blaster. If i have to drill them and fight with them for days, i figured it would be easier to change the yoke, i noticed some have fine splines and some course. Does this have to do with truck or...

    8 3/4 yoke question

Thanks to you guys it looks like I'm in luck, it is a 91 case so all I need is to try to find a yoke at the junkyard. Sounds like it is easier to just change the yoke, Will a 92 yoke work on it? thanks to all, Walt (and a thanks to pretty blue dart, hopefully I can find one locally)

    8 3/4 yoke question

I have a 8 3/4 center section with 4 cap bolts broke off the yoke. (the center is out). Do you guys think I should replace the yoke or try to get the broken bolts out? Can i change the yoke only or would the pinion have to be reset? I am on a small budget. Thanks for any input .. Walt:angry7:

    Help with missing part?

Had this 904 rebuilt a couple years ago and never looked at it. When i pulled the plastic off of it the other day I see a hole near the shaft. Can someone tell me what goes in the hole? thanks Walt

    727 or 904

904 with steel planetarys installed, instead of aluminum is hard to beat. 727 is probably the best all around trany in the world. I think i read once that Maserati used them.

I'M an idiot in need of help....727

Russ, it is good to have your location on your avatar.:dontknow: Where are you located? I have a 904 sitting in a 74 dart that worked when parked for 100.00 and I will help you pull it . Walt PS pull the 318 all in one piece for 200.00:cheers:

    4spd..... worth a crap??

Yes, If you have the money to spare and a place to hide the car it is a good buy. The seats and tracks, hood and rear are worth more than the asking price and you can probably still get 150.00 from the salvage yard.

School me on torque converters please

I don't know much about the 904 either, I had an older one rebuilt and the shop showed me it had 3 planetaries on aluminum frames and suggested it be upgraded to 4 planetaries with steel frames to go behind my 340. I think the 727 has the 4 planetaries. I think he charged me 40.00 apiece for...

    POWER AND SLICKs....with the 8 1/4 help

Heres one for you guys, I was told on a site that a small block v-8 weighs about the same as a /6 once you put on an aluminum intake and headers? Makes sense to me as that /6 has an enourmous bottom end. and 904. What do you guys think? Walt :read2:

    POWER AND SLICKs....with the 8 1/4 help

:.:A lot of those guys are legends in their own minds!!!!!!!!!! It takes a very, very, highly modified car to run in the elevens. An 8 1/4 would run in the tens with the right gears, but only for a minimal time. I go to the drags at least 10 times a year and it is hard to run in...
