1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

If you or kitty have a smart phone there’s an app I use to tell you how fast your going. It’s called speed box, seems pretty good and it’s free. None of my cars have working speedometers.

Vixen's works and it's right on the money. I had a cop friend shoot me with a radar gun. LOL

Getting the rear panels made and covered in the snakeskin vinyl. Will post progress pictures in a few.

Of course I did alligator skin on my seats and I just called my upholstery guy the other day and told him pretty soon I'll be bringing all my door panels in for the alligator treatment LOL...

Not much to it really. Got the material glued on, but not wrapped over the edges, yet.

It's pretty evident at some point in her life, Vixen took a HARD lick from behind, OR from both sides in the rear. She's had repaires to both quarters and the passenger side has had the majority replaced. Workin with trying to get the passenger door to close better, I discovered something. The quarter and entire B pillar was pushed in at the front. Probably assembled incorrectly from the repair. That door always gave Kitty a hard time. It sticks closed and is difficult to open. No amount of adjusting I did seemed to improve it. So here's what I noticed. First the driver's side. Look how straight the top line of the door is going into the rear quarter.

Now look at that same line on the passenger's side. LOL

So I took my port a power and jammed one end down into the inside of the rocker on the driver's side and put the other end just even with the door striker on the inside of the B pillar and jacked that beeotch back out straight. Now the door needs readjusting straight, but it opens closes almost just lookin at it. LOL here's the straightened B pillar. I didn't even measure anything. I just jacked it out until it was "a little" proud. When I released the cylinder, it was straight.

Looks good....and you didn't even ruin the patina! Hopefully.....if the window was whistling it will stop, and if it wasn't.....it won't start!

It was makin noise. It'll make more noise until I get the door adjusted back right again.

Looks a lot better now, wow, if these cool old cars could talk.
Love all you are doing, keep it up Rusty

As promised, here is what I did to raise the front sway bar. As designed, the Addco hardware kit leaves a lot to be desired. Especially when you install the bar as per the instructions. The 90 degree brackets hang down off the bottom of the K frame ready to bottom out on bumps or take out small animals. So all I did was drill a few new holes and relocate the 90 brackets to the top of the K frame and bolted it all back together. Sounds easy but it was a pain in the dick for this old dude with no lift layin on the ground but here it is. The brackets look crooked in comparison but they're not. The K frame is a little higher on the driver's side, so it makes the bracket look lower. But as promised, I got it above the valence to K frame bracket.

Rob nice job. I have the Addaco on my 67. I would be embarrassed to show you how I mounted it. It’s not right, I got it in trade. He said it was for a later a body but I think it was meant for the 1st gen. But with my 1.03 torsion bars and the rear 6 leaf it was a stiff ride before I put it on. Now it’s solid as a rock. I have a 3/4” rear sway to install as well. It may be way overkill.

I have the correct one for the later cars if you want it. Come get it. lol

You could raise yours up the same as I did mine. Also, an accidental result was, now mine is parallel with the strut rods......for what that's worth. I've seen elsewhere that's the "correct" way to angle the sway bar, but I really don't think that much matters. But seriously, come get this sway bar if you want it. Measure yours from link eyelet to eyelet and give me that length. I can verify if the one you have is for the later car. I KNOW mine is, because I tried it. I probably could have cobbled it to work, but the correct one works much better.

Got my carburetor mocked up on the intake. Doesn't look too bad.

I decided to go ahead and whoop me up a 225. I got a really NICE rebuilt one from @RAT ROD AL a little while back and it's CLEAN man it's clean. So I whipped the head off. LOL I have another head that's been milled about .150" and that's going on it. I'm also going to put an Oregon regrind in it. Grind #280, but it will be ground on a 108. That core is going out tomorrow. Put my rollmaster timing set in it, wheel it in good, put it all back together, slap the A230 on it, have a new drive shaft cut from one I have with a slip yoke, and swap it out. I'm gonna stick the 4 barrel on it and the second exhaust manifold Freddy opened up to 2.5" for me and have a complete 2.5" system run on it. Then, I'm gonna finish up my Ford 9" with 4.10 gears and small bolt pattern axles and put that under it. We'll see how snappy it is after that. lol

Here's the engine:

Here's the A230 transmission. What I found that's really encouraging here is, the column shift levers from another A903 I have like what's in Vixen now, swap right onto the A230, so I believe that transmission will bolt right in and work fine.

Rob Hot rod slants is where it’s at. I wish I kept mine. UTG just fired his off for break in and it sounds awesome. Good luck with it. Looking forward to seeing that happen.

I was listening to that today. It sounds really strong.....although more tame than I imagined. I think that car is going to impress a lot of people.

The cam I'm getting ground for mine is more radical than what he's runnin. Not that that means a thing. It's gonna idle a good bit rougher though. lol

Rob, That's going to be really nice! Are you going to paint your engine bay when you have the motor out? 4:10's? Are you going to be able to cruise Vixen
