1965 MMP's Barracuda Hemi swap! The Ever Changing Build

-
It's in the stock 273 location, 5/8" offset from center line to the passenger side.
Centering mine was a ton of work lol. Did you modify the inner fenders? I seen that in tincups 63 build he trimmed it. Looked like it helped with passenger side clearance.

Man I was way off on the offset. The mounts we're using and the setup of the HDK k-member the motor is only 1/4" offset to the passenger side.
No I haven't had to trim any fender wells or frame rail.

Jeremy told me where he would like it and we got lucky....off the shelf HDK Gen III mounts combined with the OEM early A offset for the small block worked well. The 2-piece HDK Gen III engine mounts are slotted for small adjustment.

I really enjoy working with my FABO friends. They really know their Mopars.

So was working on the trans tunnel and a few other things this weekend. I'm almost finished with the tunnel WOHOO! I'm about 90% finished. The 454RFE has a freaking speed sensor that's unusually high on the rear of the case and need room for the sensor and harness connection So I still gotta button up that mess on the tunnel and I have to re-mount the console mounts for the shifter before I can paint and seem seal. I was working in the car this weekend as opposed to lying under it so I had to clean it up and move everything out so I could do some cutting, grinding, and welding. That was nice I was able to clean all the parts and check them out again. I started the firewall patch and bracing too and the f.b.w throttle pedal mount. I think? I have the placement figured out ??? its tough to tell with out the dash and a seat in the car I'm more going off the stock pedal location but that's tough cause it was a floor mount and this f.b.w. is a fire wall mount, so using a lot of guesstimation on this... I have the brake/pedal plates cut just need to drill and ad some hardware. I also built the steering column plate/ replacement patch. I'm going to hold off on drilling the hole for the steering shaft till I get the column back in have to rifle through my stuff to find the column harness and blinker stuff so I can put it back together now that its painted. I'll have the tunnel finished this week and then install the HDK front end for the last time hopefully. Install the brakes and get my shock length/ ride height figured out.

This Trans tunnel is huge and ugly but soo is the 454RFE in this picture you can see the rear drivers side of the tunnel is not finished, this is wear I have to massage the tunnel to "not look too hacked" but still fit the sensor..

Didn't have a lot of time last night but I did get to fiddle around with some parts. Finally got a chance to put the steering column together. I've had the damn column harness pinout diagram on my wipe board for almost two years now in anticipation of finishing the damn thing. I can clean my board now lol
So I fished the harness through the column and put it all back together, had to search my all over my garage for the correct box with the hardware kit.. I still can't find my stupid ignition lock and bezel ugh...
I get the HDK setup back from the powder coater this week so I'm gonna order some more steering parts and will try and get the linkage figured out this weekend. I have a business trip weekend after next so I want to get as much done as I can before I go.
But I have a feeling it's gonna be a busy weekend lol
Tonight I'm gonna work on the relocation of the brake booster and trottle pedal
Here are some pictures of some of the stuff I did last night.

Worked on the brake booster location today. Pretty happy with location, need to add a few reinforcements. Also need to figure out a stiff link between the pedal and booster arm. The gaps about 3.25". I didn't get to the throttle pedal mounting tho...

I feel your pain MM on the size of tunnel required for the swap. I chose a T-60 (Mopar version tremec) by the time I got done the tunnel was huge. And I too had to relocate pedals, so I went with a Wilwood three pedal platform set that lets me adjust bias brake between front and back at pedal location.

I read through your entire thread over the last couple days. This is a really cool build.

But..... I cannot stand the black engine compartment, makes the car look unfinished. Now would be the perfect time to paint it body color before you reassemble everything.

So I got the HDK setup back from the powder coaters. It soo sexy...
I was able to finish the trans tunnel today and even got the shifter mounted
I prepped it and primed it. Tomorrow I'll seam seal it and finish in the cab, then undercoat the tunnel.
I have the coil over mounts and hoops install. Tomorrow I'll install the upper and lower A arms and the K member. I did forget to bring home my ball joint socket. So the spindle and brakes with have to wait til next week. But I did get the biggest of hurtles out of the way. The tunnel it's finished and from here on out ( fingers crossed ) I shouldn't have any 11hr fab work tossed at me. Ugh
Update on the steering. I ordered 3 parts one was a no show (empty box) The other was the wrong part! And the 3rd showed today and was correct. So 1 out of 3 odd of me working on the steering this weekend... yea sure

Here's a picture to drule over...

Dang!! I wish I would’ve thought to add tie down rings to my HDK before I had it powder coated! Oh well… it’s only been on a trailer twice in the past 8 years.

Also need to figure out a stiff link between the pedal and booster arm. The gaps about 3.25".
make or buy an after market brake peddle that is straight, instead of one that has those bends in it, move it to the left side of the left pivot bracket, and fab a bracket further to the left so the peddle will be straight in line with the rod

Yea I'm thinking a 67-73 abody pedal should work.
I was even thinking of fliping mine and cutting the last few inches off and rotating the pedal.

The cross tie down brackets are now a standard feature on all HDK K-frames. The brackets are free to all HDK customers, regardless of where and when purchased. Simply provide a picture of your HDK (e-mail or text) and pay shipping ($10 continental USA). Each bracket have two location tabs that will need to be removed (sanded off) for a retro-fit. Major credit cards and pay-pal accepted for the shipping ($10).

So I finally purchased the correct steering joint for the rav epas box. So once that's here we'll start on steering setup. Turns out it's a 16.5mmx36 spline soo it's on its way.
Also got new injectors for the 5.7/6.1 that arrived while I was on my business trip. I also received the HDK sway bar.
Then I took @kursplat 's advice and bought a later model A-body peddle and which moved the peddle to the other side of the steering and will allow me to cut and graft the stock peddle to make up the difference perfectly. I also was able to fine an almost untouched barn fine someone was parting out and I was able to get all the locks and the ign lock with lock bezel and keys! I also snagged the trunk lid letters. Today I placed an order from Detroit steel and got the dash vents and hoses handle and lock gaskets, and a cowl to hood gasket.
Here are some picks of the difference between the peddles and how I'll make it work.

Got the HDK kit installed and the motor and trans in. Also installed the engine/trans wiring harness.
Had to massage the mounts to account for the knock sensors with the motor forward.
Reaching the upper bell housing bolts was fun..lol

You do some Mad Fab work! Looks Killer! You must have Buckets of Patience also! I haven't even read the whole thread, just seeing this, I will start from #1

Got a bit more finished tonight.
Engine harness installed.
Also finished the suspension install and brakes.
Working on ride height. Pretty sure I got it where I want.

That is one Hi - Tech, but also Old School Mopar. Really dig that color, reeks of History. But looking at the front suspension and drive train, it is gonna be a beast!

More Ground Clearance is Better in the Real World. Unless You have sweet roads everywhere, and don't have to make unexpected maneuvers. It seems like you took several pics, w/ different heights. They all look great!
