1968 Barracuda Notch - Plano, TX

The spider cracked 1/4" bondo on the quarter panel behind the door on the driver's side, the striker plate held in with sheet metal screws, the CB antenna hole next to the deck lid, ...after 25 years of living with the car the way it was I wanted something nice. Not real keen on the styling and price of the new cars but do like EFI, OD transmissions and AC. That and after having a car like this for so long there is no way I could get used to driving something ordinary or common.
 
One step closer. Seam sealer was done today. I guess tomorrow they will spray the bottom of the car.

Better pictures today with the lights on in the booth. Monday the bottom of the car, rear wheel wells and such will be painted the same color but with the bedliner type material mixed in.

I have the shiny engine bay but nothing to go with it. Maybe one day Clair both out verts will actually hit the road again.

Thanks Carl, I forget how many changes I made in the engine bay. When I see yours I can spot them all. The radiator core support, the opening for the radiator, the inner fenders, the firewall bulkhead connector, the trans tunnel, and the heater blower motor. It adds up.
 
Bedliner material mixed with the paint. Bottom of the car masked this morning - painted this afternoon.

The car has been apart and together a few times now. Back on the ground on tires again today. The shop owner Rodney sent me a picture. We are now at the point where parts will go on and stay on, until I get the car home at least.

Will be home soon!

Built an engine cradle today with a MIG welder and some scrap angle and 1" square tube. Rolled the car out into the sun to take a picture.

You're going to love that color in the sun and how it shades around the body lines

I am loving it already... a few more days to go. Everything is painted now except the outside of the car.

Attached are pictures of the inside of the deck lid, a door, and a splash shield. The inside top and bottom around the door panel are black. I took the picture of a splash shield out in the sun.

Ready for paint! Completed interior panels in black, bed liner material on the underside and bottom of hood, engine bay finished out (the fender tag makes it official), and the inside of door and jambs painted. Fenders, doors, hood, and trunk lid are attached and aligned for final prep. Just waiting for the final finish sanding and the paint booth to open back up.

A few weeks back I took some scrap 1" square tube, some scrap angle iron and cobbled together an engine cradle. I took it down to the shop, cut pieces to length with the chop saw, drilled holes for the mounts, and welded it together with a MIG welder. I made the base a rectangle the correct size to sit on a furniture dolly I already had. Cut the to fit so that if the base is resting on the ground the oil pan has about 1/4" clearance. Total cost $20 for a 1000lb furniture dolly I already had and now I have a roll around engine cradle in my garage. Brought the engine home today and remembered to take a few pictures.
