This sounds interesting...
can you remind the class what your bumper finish will be? I'm sure it is buried in here somewhere, but you probably know off the top of your head.

Still out for debate..chrome or painted but haven't decided. It waws gonna be chrome till I went to Mecum and saw some nice examples of cars with painted bumpers.

I'd say it depends on your wheel selection, if they are painted or not. I think with polished aluminum wheels adding chrome to bumpers looks great. But if the wheels are painted, anodized, powder coated in matte black or whatever then bling bling bumpers on each end look out of place / or the wheels look out of place,,,,either or.

Although if you have a very deepdish wheel and the lip is polished but centers are painted then chrome or no chrome on bumpers look good.

My $.02 and its worth every penny :D

I couldn't agree more with your way of thinking. I'm thinking of painting the centers of my wheels to give it a more subdued look. Here are a couple cars at mecum that I thought were badass looking. The bottom two pics are my wheels in there current all shiny and polished out look.

Plasti-dip spray is a great way to test out a look for the wheels. Peel it off if you don't like it. Change back and forth, whatever.

I'm biased as my wheels have the painted centres. I'm even thinking I might go a darker colour than my silver centres. It'll depend on the colour I choose for my car.

I was thinking about a matte black center on my wheels, kinda go with my hood. But since I didn't narrow my axles I ended up with a lot of back spacing and small lip, decided it would look bad and stuck with polished. My rear wheels are 12" wide with 345 wide rubber, but not noticeable unless looking from the rear.

I'd see what they look like with the plasti dip. Might look great. I've seen low backspace wheels look nice that way. I'd leave the center caps chrome.

A very good idea for you right there Ross

One of our Reservists brought a can of black into the shop last Drill weekend to Test it out, he sprayed Aluminum parts and plastic body panels, both turned out great and at the end of the day he just peeled it off and it looked like it never happened. I would not use Black just for the fact that it might be to overpowering with too much Black, but a nice Matte Grey might be the ticket.

I went to test fit the front bumper today...all in all it was a very good test, there are some things to change that will be easy modifications. The bumper brackets are going to be the major rework, I opened up the slots to allow the bumper to suck back into the front end an extra 1", but due to the curve of the brackets I cant get it in pulled back enough for final fitment. Tom likes the tow hook and wants me to incorporate it...I told him everyone here gave it a big thumbs down. Now that I see the bumper on the car I really like the lights. The Bumper tucks in real nice to the sides of the fender.

The bumper/light setup looks very good with your hood. The
Sharktooth grill in between should be a nice fit as well.

Here's the Brackets, the first picture show's the factory curve of the bumper brackets and that was the problem with not allowing it to be drawn in close to the grille, after about 20 minutes the curve was eliminated, now I just have to make a few sloted plates and weld them to the straighted brackets. Once painted it will look factory once again and have adjustability, Small Potatoes.

I won't bore the majority of viewers with alot of pictures but here are a couple for the few people following along on how to do this step by step.
I cut 5.0" x 4.5" squares out of 1/8" steel and added a couple slots to allow for adjustment and welded it all together while it was still bolted in position so it wouldn't warp or pull out of shape.

Actually I almost didn't post these pictures because the welds were not nice enough but they were a quick fix and once painted no one will see them.

small block? Someone told me you could buy a 426 Hemi for less than a stroked small block..............

Don't get me started on that one...... I should have build a 4.125 stroke so I would have 426 CID at least then the brand X guys wouldn't know the difference if I said 426.... But I'll stay with 416 that will really throw them off
Like the idiots that see 383 and think it's a Chevy motor in a mopar.

I like chrome bumpers on classic cars myself. the car has to be built right to pull it off. my buddy has a really dark gray 69 Camaro with blacked out trim and the bumpers are black, looks great! but everything is dark and Camaro's have small bumpers.

If I keep having to buy parts like this, you might be right. I was getting ready to buy standard Harland Sharp rockers for $619 and noticed that there was a special listing for use with Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads after some research and a call to the Manufacture it seems that the Eddy heads valve position needed a .060" offset toward the exhaust side of the head to correctly align everything and the just happen to only come in there Heavy duty version....long story short, New Rocker, New Price
........ $ 849 Arrived today

Thats true smaller bumpers help to pull off the painted look but if you look at post 2304, the Chevelle bumper is actually bigger than a Dusters but the big problem with painted bumpers on a Duster is the fact that they are never Tucked in and fitted to the body. Mine will be smoothed to the body, front and rear and have 1/4" gaps to the fenders and quarters like the rest of the body panels. And mine will have everything Dark
