73' B3 340 Duster pro touring build

-
Ross....looks good.

I can see your car at Carlisle next year (hopefully).

Might have to be two years.....I am trying to convince my Squadron to send me on a Middle East deployment scheduled for sometime next year .

On a side note...... today is the first day I start to feel the effects of the Government Sequester, The dreaded Department of Defense Furlough. 11 mandatory days off without pay.....So from now till the end of September I will have every Monday Off. It gives me more time for the Duster but less money to spend on it. :banghead:

Jr showed....and I only got to say Hi

To be honest....It just did not click...and I did not know who he was....after he left and I was done BSing with whoever I was talking to, I asked.... who is JR?...and was told JR legacy(23).

I said ...I know that guy....wish I would of known he was that JR. he would have got more than a handshake and a hello .

my apologies to JR

Not a problem here, you were in "business man mode" selling a K-Frame. LOL. I had the 5 year old and 18 month old off to the side with the wife eating, so I was pretty busy myself and did not get much of a chance to stop back by. It was so hot on Saturday I was off scrounging the swap meet.
BTW, I did not see your Duster in the burnout contest ???

Good times for sure.... and cute kid you got there!

This build gives off some bitchen ideas, Thanks! What are you using for bushings in the motor mounts? Ive been thinking of using some Jeep XJ lower control arm bushings.

what is the OD / ID / length of the bushings?

once again ...what are they from?

Thanks 72BBSwinger....you're alright! (I think most already knew that).

There Energy Suspension polyurethane universal bushings. Here are the spec on them. Keep in mind I shortened the sleeve length to 2.0" and made my own Billet Aluminum bushing housings that I stepped down in size so when there pressed into the motor plate hole it has the exact spacing on both sides and sits straight then there fully welded on the back side.

Brand: Energy Suspension

Bushing Outside Diameter (in): 1.500 in.

Sleeves Included: Yes

Sleeve Inside Diameter (in): 0.563 in.

Sleeve Length (in): 2.375 in.

Barrel Length (in): 0.750 in.

Bushing Flange Length (in): 0.207 in.

Bushing Material: Polyurethane

Bushing Color: Black

Thanks for the compliment. If you use the Jeep bushings that has a steel housing I would assume your motor plate would have to be steel and the steel housing is very thin. I made my aluminum bushing housings with 5/16" wall thickness. I want as much vibration engine dampening as possible with this set up.

then why didn't you use rubber front leaf spring eye bushings?

I have what you are using in my Duster now....but I am in process of swapping them out (after the Nats) for the rubber versions. ..for that coffee getter ride. The swap out will take about 1/2 hour, but I want to raise my motor appx 1/4", and that takes Mark the Fab/Welder guy to build me a new set of mounts.

I never thought that far outside the box and no one suggested them so I could research the possibility further...

Actually, I think you mentioned it but I forgot. when we talk about stuff You give me so much good information it's hard to remember everything.

Here's the fix for the oil pan and TTI B body headers clearance issue. I modified the pan and now will have plenty of room around the header tube. Once it's all painted the same color will look like Milodon planned it that way........ almost "Factory". The last picture is the before picture showing the problem, in case you missed it on the previous page.

My plan for next winter is to maybe just buy a complete Jeep XJ front lower control arm and cut it in half and however much of it as I need and just weld each of the "halves" to my K frame with the stock rubber bushings intact. Then just make brackets from my engines ears to clamp to the bushings. Kinda a "reverse" spool mount. http://www.ebay.com/itm/18280-05-Om...Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec90c1bf2&vxp=mtr

Timothy,
If I had a 6.1, I think that would be plenty of WTF or WOW factor, you'll be fine without the bling. I have been researching multi port EFI with 2 or 3 billet throttle bodies to match up with the front billet stuff to balance everything out. More on that later........

How about this for a port EFI intake idea:

Take a magnum intake and cut the runners open at the top so the runner is about half the length of factory. Then cut the unused portions of the runners out completely. This will open up the intake and give it kind of a tunnel ram look. Box the area in where the intake runners pick up air and leave a gap between the bottom of the intake and this new boxed area so there is minimal heat transfer. Then find some way to put a throttle body on the front rather than the top. Kind of a "5.9 SRT Intake" idea.

I realize you probably don't have the right heads for this, but I don't think this will every get past the idea stage with me and you obviously have the skills to do something like that. :-D

The TB on the front is tight, though. Might not work at all.

I've always wondered what the factory would have come up with if they had put the magnum motors in a car.

Or, grab on old tunnel ram and put some injector bungs in it. Dump the carb top and build a tapered box with the throttle body at the front. Kind of like Holley's Hi-Ram for the LS.

Just trying to help. :toothy10:

Thanks Ill research that for options, I have been talking with Rich from Fastman EFI about dual throttle bodies on a Indy Cylinder head Mod Man intake he will do all the machining since there are provisions in the manifold for the injectors...sort of would look like this set. Yea, I know its on a Ford but you get the idea. I can't seem to find many online pics of a small block mopar with dual throttle bodies and injector rails.

Here's the Intake that Rick from Fastman EFI would modify for the fuel injectors and rails, just need to add the dual billet top plate.....Thanks Mark for the picture (taken at Carlisle).

Why? Not married? Do you get a bunch more $$$$ to be over there. And how long is a deployment? I spent 3-4yrs working in middle east, Kuwait and Yemen mostly, I work oilfield. My schedule was 5 weeks on / 5 weeks off. I did one long hitch of 9 weeks and wanted to shoot myself, I dont get how you guys can last as long as you do, I'd be in the looney bin...lol.
