CAR HUNT! or BOF & me car shopping!

I'm to old to do that without a lift. If there was more room to work maybe. At 50 years a man just got to know his limitations!
:coffee2: Nah yer a young man, remember, I know, it don't get any better . . . I wish I was 50!! :banghead: lmao

OH! I just remembered, I'll have to mow the lot I use on the side of the highway! My grandpa sold a few cars off that same spot
Man, that's just too cool about your Gpa, and you following in his footsteps (hope he was rich!).

I'll be able to dig a couple up this winter but can't really filp in winter. I loose my work area when weather gets funkey.
You need to add on to that garage or replace it with a bigger structure. I know you have no moola, but that is what you need. We need an old fashioned barn-raising!

I want my $200 6 month bidding fee back!!
What if you became a dealer? :-k Would that open things up?

Boring huh! LMAO!!:D
Never boring, sometimes DEPRESSING!! :thumbdow: lol We all hope ya cut a break

Think I'll clean the garage up tomorrow. I can't find anything in there after a summer season of restore work!:glasses7:
Yeah, thats what I need to do too . . . darn housecleaning disgust . . . I someone to pick up after me in the barn . . . John you have a great day, hope it stops raining . . . . :hello2: Rog

Remember I got shotgun!!! I got the doughnuts!! lol

It isn't the famous Ferd Maverick, is it? I haven't seen one of them in decades.

BINGO!
We have a winner!
Guess what....
Yep, it's a 4 door!
Senior owned, both times. It has had only 2 previous owners. Current owner bought 5 years ago for restore but never got to it. Would start it a couple times a year. It has been garaged for the same 5 year period and has not been kept outside.
Word has it that 1 quarter panel and trunk extension rusted (Not skeered)
Pass rear door dent (still not worried)
Missing side mirror, hub caps. Still not worried, already have a donor car at Yard Dawg's junk pile.
Transmission no leaks and no slipping. Needs a battery and tuneup + restore. Owner said ok to bring battery and starting fluid. We could start and drive it then!
He was very interested if I was going to restore or part out. I told him He didn't know me but I was probibly THE best person to come look at his 4 door due to me being the 4 door Dart dude! LOL
After talking for like half an hour he said he thinks I'm where his car needs to go. Even with flipping plans for spring tax season, he said he was glad it would be fixed with a new paint job and was looking foward to running into it at shows. He says "The vinyl top would need replaced too." I told him that would be the first to go because on the 70's 4 doors I like to peel the top off and paint it with a "mod top" inspired paint job on the roof and stock solid color on bottom half. (Like Fern and Lump will be soon)
He loved the idea and said he really looked foward to letting ME take his car home.
I've always considered the Maverick to be the closest car to the Dart besides the other Mopar products. They are so much alike I should be able to repair myself.
I asked if his car had a name yet due to me not wanting to change it's name. He laughed at me after he heard we name our cars and said if he wasn't sure before about letting the car go to me, he was definately sure now I was the guy to get his car and I had first dibbs. No one else going to see it untill after we get there on Sat!
He was real happy the car was going to get the attention it deserves.
1973 straight 6 Auto, 86K miles all original.
My grandpa had an orange with black sport stripes on a 2 door Maverick for a couple of years. My grandpa was a Ferd guy but I still loved him anyway!! LOL!

IfItsGotWheels, you have a great day today!
Thanks for reading FABO's own web based magazine,
CAR HUNT! FABOZENE:cool:
See ya here on Sat!

It figures a maverick would buy a Maverick LMAO! They are hard to kill, I should know because I drove one all through my teen years. Sold it for $200 to a wino then several years later I noticed a familiar decal on a car with mismatched panels and a young pregnant gal getting out of it.

Those Fords give your right foot plenty of exercise because it takes a certain technique with the gas pedal to get the transmission to shift when you want it too. You'll see!

Keep up the good work, those dealers and auction houses can make it harder but it they think they can beat you they have another thing coming!

No Better?!!! Oh Lord, I better start making these buildings and land senior ready. I'm almost there now!!

Man, that's just too cool about your Gpa, and you following in his footsteps (hope he was rich!).

Grandpa skinned mowers, tillers, tractors, cars, trucks, guns. for the last half of his life, 40 or more years. I was the little kid who helped him in the summers at the lawnmower shop out back in the cblock shed, here where I live now. Morning; John, go out back and pick a deck, handles, wheels and anything else you need to use this motor you rebuilt yesterday. We got someone who needs a push mower this afternoon.

You need to add on to that garage or replace it with a bigger structure. I know you have no moola, but that is what you need. We need an old fashioned barn-raising! Money first!

What if you became a dealer? :-k Would that open things up? Yeah, that would open things up like DOT authority for my car hauler, commercial insurance for car hauler, stopping at weigh stations on freeway and all the tickets that entails, additional federal and state licensing for salvage, EPA visits to my house, etc, etc, etc, etc and on and on and on... More friggin government than I care to think about. they put me in the cituation I'm in now and I'll be damned if I let them do me again. I can't afford the red tape. I would rather spend $300 in fuel a month NOT buying at auctions! LOL!!
Right now I only need dealers license in Indiana if I do 12 or more cars a year. Between ABB and myself that = 24 resale flippers a year. Man if I had 24 flippers a year, that new garage out back would be built! The junkers go straight from owner to scrap yard.
Right now in FOTO on the highway, I'm hauling My property (have title) on my truck, going to my house. I'm a car buff and it's my hobbie. LOL:D

Never boring, sometimes DEPRESSING!! :thumbdow: lol We all hope ya cut a break

LMAO!!! Wino to a pregnant lady!! LOL!!!\\:D/
All I need is a few good finds.
Winter is comming soon and after all the weeds die we can start cruzing on the slow days looking for field and barn finds. They are easier to spot in the fall and winter!
Have a great day today goldfish 65!
John:coffee2:

I'm just bottom feeding right now...as usual, always trying to dig up something for nothing!8-)
:coffee2: That's because yer a picker . . .

No doubt about that :thumbrig:! Funny, there is a 4 door Maverick down the street from me on a small car lot that I look at everytime I drive by . . . red with a black top . . . very nice shape . . . don't get me started!! lol! When I wore a younger man's clothes :hippy2:, I used to have a 74 Maverick 2 dr. back in the day (about 1985). I put a ton of miles on it, but the body and front end was a mess . . . I pulled the engine and dropped it in a 1977 4 door Mercury Monarch with a seized 302 in it . Drove that for another year or so. Good luck with the car . . . looking forward to the thread :glasses7:, see you Saturday,:D:D:D Rog

Sorry FABO.
I'll call the guy up in a day or 2. It's just really hard for me right now.

So so sorry John and ABB. I know how much he meant to you from your birthday post. Thoughts and a prayer for the little guy from me. Take care John, he's not in pain anymore.

Thank You podart.
You are a kind soul.
You have always been good to our family.
We all here appreciate you being here for us.
I just should have took the extra 30 min to an hour to spend more time with him here at home.
I thought it would be afix and come home thing and though it better to hurry there. I was in such a hurry due to not wanting his vet visit cut into the car purchase today. I thought we could get there first in line and be back in plenty of time for the maverick.
I'm such a selfish asshole.
I should have known what the deal was and probibly did when I wrote the long post about him on his birthday thread.
That knowing should have made me slow down today and wait a coulple few hours before rushing down to the vet.
That extra time would have ment alot to him I'm sure.
Family is more important than anything.
I should have cancelled the car appointment early and spent the rest of the day with Vinny instead.
I'm so poor right now I was just worried about getting the car so I would have money for the family.
I'm a dumb ***.
Vinny was with me damn near 24-7. I don't know what I'm going to do.
The visit this morning pretty much ate up the house payment that was due too.........
Vinny was so good at the vet too. He lays at the front door greating everyone while his leash is laying on his back. I wasn't even holding him and he was being so nice to 4 different dogs their families and 2 cats too! He loved everybody.
Thanks again for being there for us popdart, it really means alot to me that your friends with my family, Lex and Vinny included.
Your friend,
John.

Sorry John we understand and can wait for whatever time is necessary for the family to recover from the loss of an outstanding family member. Vinnie you will live on in these FABO postings and everyones heart.

The worst part is there is so much here that is his that reminds me of him.
