Honest value

Not sure what its worth now but if the restoration is done right everything correct 55,000 to 60,000
Thanks Dave, that is what I was hearing when I bought it . Any help you can give me with my build , I would return 10 fold ! Mahalo C

Against my better judgement, and I know a ball busting is coming, But I just can't help myself. But here goes.

If you do it up perfect and you find the guy that just has to have it.
You might get 75% of what you put in it.

Give me 5 minutes to put my cup on. LOL

Wow, no opinions ! Very Hard to believe ! Here I thought "Opinion's were like Assholes, Everyone's got one"
Oh well, I thought such a rare car, it might be worth a few shinny pennies. Thanks, C
There may be hesitation to shoot out any estimates. Lately, most of the time when someone asks for opinions on a car's value, the OP argues with people to the point where the thread turns ugly. I always think, "Why ask if you are going to argue?" So I think a lot of people just don't bother trying anymore. A while back an OP started calling people names when they disagreed with him.

Amen to that, brother. A while back, there was a used car lot with a rough and rusty 68 Barracuda FB with a 383. The guy said it was numbers matching. He wanted $28,000. He said they are worth $50-60K when restored. I told him the problem was that his car was rough and it was $40-50K away from being done. Add that to the purchase price, and you'd have $70K in it.

Very honest ! Thanks. Just what I'm looking for ! I know its not a 5k car or a 100k car but somewhere in between. Now either High or low .Just thought I could get some GOOD feedback on My 68. Thought someone out there might be looking for a BB a body for a fair price with or without my restoration . Less I have to do , the less they have to Pay ! Not many 383/4speed Notches left out there. My self, I don't care for the fastbacks, far to many out there ! Also not the look I like. I am more of a Coupe Man ! To each their own I say !!! Much Mahalo my fellow Mopar friends, C

If you can do most of the work yourself, that will widen your profit margin.......that is IF you intend to sell. I think Dave's estimates are in the ballpark. But, contracting work out will certainly have an effect. If you can do literally all the work yourself, then, you certainly stand a chance to get a good bit for it. Good luck with it and keep us posted on the build. That's going to be a nice one.

P.S. any help Is always welcome as it has not been easy !
Car in an Original Hawaii Car ! Bought in Oahu in 1968 .

What I wonder is, u rolling it over every couple of months , have you lost the oil film on the bearings over the last 5 yrs. ? U should be pre lubing it every few times , I would think.

You would almost have to give it away , shipping charges back to the states would be a killer ! GLWS

It would be in my garage already but shipping has killed the deal in the past.

I put oil in pan and primed oil pump with drill and rod. Don't know about your guys but I have done this before. I might be only almost 50 yrs old, but I have been around the block with Mopar and Mech. work.
That's why I am doing most of the work myself, as I CAN DO IT ! Plus it will save me Tens of thousands !
Now shipping to Calif. is @ $1200. and @ $1000 more to east coast. give or take an extra $1000 for all the extras. So what's $3000. for shipping cost ,for a car like that.
I would be happy to take it out of my end if we come to a fair price. Mahalo C

The Muscle Car market is such a roller coaster ride. One day up,the next down.Timing is everything.

Totally agree with that statement.
It seems like high dollar cars in most cases are being sold at auction houses or Ebay.
I wouldn't want to say what your car is worth. Because I don't know the market on it.
Their was one on Moparts. However, it is a '69 Fastback more of a survivor type he was
asking $26,500. I thought it was a good deal. 4 speed too. That car didn't seem to last long.

Nice deal, So what I heard was for @ every 1 notchback they made 4 fastbacks or so. Made only 154 , 383/4speed coupes in 68. How many of them are left ?

Here is the question on fastback vs coupe, which is more desirable, not which is the rarer. For example I have a 62 Lancer rare as hen's teeth, but few people car to own that car.
For what little I see of auctions, muscle car prices are down, especially hemi cars. Resto rod 60's 1/2 ton Chevy pickups are way up! Go figure. Like mentioned above, the market is a roller coaster ride.
I say IF you can do your own work and it be worthy of BJ prices, and you have that desire to do so, restore it 100 % and take it there. It will bring more $ there than anywhere. Right?

Lets just start off that we are talking about a mint rare desirable muscle car. Here is what's going on now a days, The rare and nice correct cars are really not going to auction or eBay. They mostly sell privately. Its like this, hey if you want to sell that car let me know and you go on a list or hey I am selling this car let me know if you know anyone looking. They do not need advertisement, it's all word of mouth and it travels fast. Most real good cars sell this way. The auctions and eBay for the most part do not have really nice correct cars and these cars destroy the true value of real nice cars. Every once in a while one shows up. The auction thing now days is for TV. A really good friend of mine is heavy involved with collector cars.

Just modify it a bit and drive it home

that`s because the fastbacks were made famous by the 426 hemi cars, they didn`t ever come in a coupe ! That's why they are more popular. Even rarer was the two 68 383 form S fastbacks that came out with the 335 horse roadrunner engine , that was downgraded to 330 because of the drivers side exhaust manifold. The window sticker said exactly that , if I`d known what I had , I WOULD HAVE KEPT IT , ONLY HEARD OF ONE OTHER !! Was almost uncontrollable on that days tires, had to drive it or get out of it .

I agree , butt i still like the coupe better !

Can think of about 6-7 fastbacks around these parts, cant think of any coupes . Maybe I just don't notice them , being a fan of the hemi cars .?????
Not many Barracudas left in the Islands and the few there are , are mostly fastback mods for racing . Few Hemi cars but no SS factory originals that I know of ! I still like my 2 coupes and will keep it real ! Mahalo for all the Help. C

I may get flamed on this but it's just my opinion and nothing meant against the OP/seller. And this is from the perspective that I am not so in love with these cars as to be able to pay extra cash for the pleasure of having one. The numbers have to work for me with this car. Also taking into account where it is, and how it's being stored in the pictures, and the appearance of what has been posted...
In it's current state I wouldn't even look at it. Unfortunately living in paradise has a monetary cost to those of us not living in it. I wouldn't pay more than the airline tickets and hotel to come and see that what you have is indeed what you say and I'm literally on the other side of the planet from it. No suggestions on your honesty intended there - it's a buyer beware world. I'd have to see it, then get it all to "home". That's going to cost more than I'd pay for the car in boxes knowing what's left to complete it.
All done (correctly and well) - I'd still call it $40K where it sits. I'd still need to see it in person, and then I'd have to transport it. So months and dollars on me, taking off cash price from you. I think, if it was on the mainland, and done right, it's $50-55K all day long and the buyers pool is much, much larger. In HI you will need to find the local guy that knows and loves them to get that kind of money.
