Get the big light out and a good camera to show us how he unloads
and make sure we get a picture of you siting in it with a bid grin on bud.

don't forget about us and make us wait to lone.

You jerk.:toothy7::poke::thumbrig:

I wish I was there.:rock::worthles:

Well Im glad ITS "almost" there. I can see the scenario unfolding like this.... Starting around 9:30 every headlight coming down the street is going to be stared at until its determined whether or not its the car showing up. Been there done that!!! And like Mike, I too am looking forward to the new pics!!!!

Ok....it's 11:58 pm here in the big white box, and I've pulled the car in and raised it on the rack.

(sorry, no unloading pics, cause they unloaded it at a closed gas station about 3 miles from the house)

What is it your mom says......"if you can't say anything nice...."
All that it needs is to be disassembled, and then reassembled by someone who knows how to build a car.

First, there is more slop in the steering than any TWO cars I've owned.
The P.O. didn't tell me (and I didn't ask) but the front end is completely worn out. Well, maybe not completely.
The tie rod ends may be ok.
Strut rod bushings are completely gone.
The exhaust is pieced together (and leaking) in several places.
This also accounts for the lifter tick he thought it had.
It has a header leak under the hood on the passenger's side.
Looks like he has adapters on the rear wheels to make it BBP instead of small. Again, he didn't tell me, and I didn't ask.
******* air shocks so the tires might clear. Unnecessary without the adapters.
The dash pad ISN'T bolted down. Probably shouldn't have needed to ask about that.
Fuse box is hanging under the dash. Again, I shouldn't have had to ask about that.
Looks like a March underdrive crank pulley, which might have something to do with it warming up in traffic.
May or may not have anything to do with the flex fan and no shroud. Again, not told, didn't ask.
Cracked drivers tail light. Broken driver's rear side marker.
Thing that gets me the most is a dent in the edge of the left rear wheel. P.O. didn't tell me about that either.

So much for trusting someone in the military

Guess I'll make a short list of things I need and post in the Parts Wanted.....

I forgot. It DOES have a pretty nice stereo

I forgot. It DOES have a pretty nice stereo

GREAT!
Crank up "Green Grass and High Tides"
If you turn it up you won't have to listen to the clicking and ticking, the banging and clanging and all that anoying stuff that the PO was sure was unimportant..

Actually I'm feelin for ya... I just can't reach ya.

Well, Im glad that it at least made it there finally. So all its going to take is some time, money, and parts. Story of our lives right? lol. I hope you get up in the morning and look at it in the daylight and you feel a little better about what lies ahead for you.

I think you would have changed out
some of these things anyway 60 Sedan.:clock:
And you are the man to do it right.
I have to agree with you about the dent and,
the adapters on the rear wheels to make it BBP instead of small
should have been told to you with out asking.:read2:
But you have a great car to tighten up and do it right.
I will be looking for your post of parts you will need,
And I will do all I can to help you get them to you.
Congrat's 68 Sedan
I sure do like your new A body bud\\:D/:thumleft::burnout:

Thanks all.

The saga continues
Was out today running some errands. Ordered the LCA bushings and strut rod bushings. Be here tomorrow. Tried to transfer the title, but because the P.O. had put a price on it, then scratched it out and put another (neither of which were the right price btw) I had to send off a form for them to sign stating there was a "correction" made. Can't transfer it till the form comes back.

Something else I found.......
The driver's side front turn signal lens is cracked. As I looked at it, something struck me as a little odd. Seems the tapered "bezel" is tapered in the wrong direction. Either it's upside down, or it has two right side bezels, cause the one on the passenger's side tapers in the same direction.

ALSO......I'm assuming the seat belt isn't supposed to be attached to the underside of the seat............ So if someone can enlighten me on the proper installation and configuration of the seat belts, I'd greatly appreciate it

Lastly, I went to a swap meet today looking for stuff. Very little Mopar stuff there (big surprise). Didn't buy anything but a soda. There was a 72 Duster with the loveliest of GRASS GREEN slant six in it, which was THE nicest thing about the car. Guy wanted more than what I just paid for this one. There was a 69 GTX console 4 speed car there. Really rough, but pretty complete. Even had the DANA under it. But I thought the $9500 asking price was "Juuuust a bit outside"

Here are two quick pics. One I took late last night after it arrived. I just HAD to put it up on the rack. The other is from today. I did a little degreasing under the hood.

Tomorrow I may start on the front suspension and/or removing the electric fuel pump and regulator. They are being replaced with the Carter 120 gph 6.5lb/sq/in mechanical and a METAL fuel line.

So unless I change my mind for some reason, the electric pump and regulator will be up for grabs.

Well...don't know if you needed a project (or several) but it looks like you got one!

Have fun...curse the PO. And make it right...

When I got my duster the PO had put disc brake spacers on the back where the drum brakes stay...only about 4 threads per lug nut...dumbass!

The heat was leaking antifreeze in the cab. SO I removed the heater core...took care of the leak...but the hoses going into the core (on the firewall side) had bicycle tire valve stems cut off and shoved in the inlet and outlet to stop the leak...instead of JUST REMOVING THE HEATER HOSES or fixing the core!

Sorry if I hi-jacked...those things still erks me...Ooo Look it has a working heater!!! NOT! No biggy..who needs heat in Hawaii.

Yeah, it's a bit more of a project than I was hoping for (hoping like B.O. lmao) but I think it will turn out ok. Only thing I really hate thinking about undoing is the Chevy engine compartment. But I'll come up with some sort of plan to make that as painless as possible.....

hopefully

The Saga continues.

Today I made the 13 MILE trip in to town to pick up a couple O parts I ordered for...."IT" They....the blunderheads at AutoZoned out called me and said they were here. Well they were HALF right. HALF of the parts I ordered had come in. So (assuming they call) I'll get to make another 26 MILE round trip tomorrow to get the rest of the parts.

On to more odd things.

I pulled one of the front wheels just a few minutes ago. Has Wilwood brakes on it, but the lugs were in the small pattern instead of the large. WTF? I know they (Wilwood) makes these in both a 4 and a 4.5" pattern, but this ain't right. So I measure it, and it isn't 5 on 4. It doesn't measure to 4.5 either. Guess I never realized the 4.5" actually measured out to about 4 3/8"

So I pulled the right rear. It looked like (from the outside) there were adapters back there fir the 4.5". But there isn't an adapter. But it's a 4.5 pattern. And the drums aren't redrilled. And the axle isn't redrilled. But it's a 5X4.5" for sure. So I tried to measure the housing. Looks to be 52-53". Problem is this could either be an A body, or an early B body (read 63-64 Maxi) which are only about 3/4" difference in width.

So before measuring, I figured it would be a 65-67 B body housing, since the wheels are a 7" with 3.75 backspacing, but seem to stick out necessitating the air shocks. The left rear is still on the car, and there is 2" clearance between the tire and the spring.

I've had little luck on here locating some of the parts for "IT". Last night I scored both front markers and bezels off ebay for a reasonable price. No luck with torsion bars though, so I guess I'll be placing an order with Firm Feel for those today. Guess I'll go ahead and get some new leaf springs and rear shocks while I'm at it.

please check my lil list in the "parts wanted" cause I still need some stuff

Glad to hear the rear end is a 5 on 4 1/4 and NO adapter plate.

Nice shop and lift 68 Sedan.:-D

Thanks Memike, but the place is actually a mess. Lot of stuff that shouldn't be in there is still in there.

And if you look reeeeeally close, there is another car in the air back in the shadows

P0002229-1.jpg

EXTRA NICE!!! Two car's in the air.:thumbrig:
Yep !! :-kI say we all have things where they should not be.
Like,:-k I should be the guy living next door.:salute::blob:=D>

Well I just spent the last two hours trying to drop the LCA's so I could do those bushings, and the strut rod bushings as well. WHAT a major league PITA! The spindles on this thing don't give enough clearance to get a socket on the balljoint nut. Also, apparently the left balljoint was attached to the LCA before the spindle, cause there wasn't room to pull the cotter pin.

BUT, as quoted from The Outlaw Josey Wales, "Endeavor to persevere". I finally got everything loose and dropped the driver's LCA. Discovered (to no real surprise) the lower balljoint is completely worn out. Guess I get to do those as well.

Well you may (or may not) have noticed that "IT" had an electric fuel pump and regulator mounted under the hood. While waiting on the correct parts for the front end to arrive, I decided to do something about the pump.

So I got one of the big Carter mechanicals. And while trial fitting it I discovered there was a boss on the front of the block which prevented the pump from mounting flush. So I broke out the high speed cutter and lopped a piece of the boss off. That taken care of I started bending up my own fuel lines.

Took a while, but here they are.....

P0002243.jpg

Welcome back. I haven't posted anything on "IT" lately due to overwhelming frustration. I really cannot say I have ever had a car fight me the way this one has.

Although the "computer" at AutoZone showed the "correct" LCA bushings, they turned out to be the wrong ones. The shaft would not fit. Hole to big. Inner wheel bearing on the left front Wilwood was shot. Got the bearing, but the seal was unavailable. Had to order it from Wilwood and 2 day air it.
Leaf springs. Had the sleeve for the larger bolt. Had to get said bolts etc., and hog the mounts. Shackle bushings I had in stock were B/E and not for A. Had to wait for those to come in.

SO....finally today.....I got it all back together.

So I call the tire shop to see about getting the rears done, and the car won't start. Turn the key. Nothing.Lights, but no click click. Finally figure out that the original starter relay is ****. and when I removed the wiring for the electric fuel pump, (remember, the one under the hood?) the wiring was hooked to the relay and the relay really didn't survive messing with.

So I got the car started and hit the road.........and was welcomed by what sounded like cats being run over. So I stop for the passing train (really good idea DESPITE the frustration) and discover the thing is pigeon toed.

BACK to the shop, chunk the big jack under the nose, and adjust the passenger's tie rod sleeve about 5/8". Drives fine now.

So I go to the tire shop. They mount the 275/60's on the ProStars and BOY do they look good.

Tomorrow.....before taking it to get the exhaust done, I'll take some pics with the new shoes front and rear.

Oh yeah. I also removed said electric pump and regulator (still for sale btw), installed better lenses in the grill, got the extra paperwork back from Washington so I could transfer the title, and popped on the vintage Texas plates.

Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say "It's always somethin. You either have giganto pipes, or a nonfunctioning ignition system."

Yes...that's right.

I got in "IT" to drive over to the muffler shop. Busted right off, and purred like a kitten on the way there. So the guy says, I'm the only one here, and the mufflers won't be for a while. Can you come back in an hour?"

SUUUUURRRREEEEE I say. And I get in, twist the key, and it almost fires.

then nothing.

cranks, but no fire.

I have it scooped up by the local wrecker and brought back to the shop.
So the Giganto pipes have received a reprieve, for the moment. And I need to try to figure out all this wiring.

Anyone have instructions on hooking up a 6AL using a Mopar electronic distributor?

Thank you doll. I'll have a look later. Right now I'm just trying NOT to commit murder:angry5:

Weeeeeeellllllll.....after a $30 wrecker ride home, I let "IT" sit till about 9:30 (about 7 hours) and thought..."what are the odds"

well you know the *&&^$#*&^$% thing fired right up. So I turned my attention to the steering wheel. I didn't like it much, and there were some pieces missing for the horn switch. So I started working on installing the new wheel I got.

Guess what I found. The wheel that was on it was sort of held on with a LUG NUT. Yes, that's right. A freakin lug nut....which 1) wasn't tight and 2) isn't the proper thread anyway. Lucky for me, I have a large tap and die set. So I rethreaded the shaft, and stole the correct nut off the Sedan.

Then, after scraping some paint off the new wheel so the switch would make contact, I removed the pansieass aftermarket horn and installed a VW Beetle horn I got some time back. Well you know what it sounds like.

anyway, the original wheel is now in the parts for sale section. And here are a before and after pic.

P0002254.jpg

Well as I said late yesterday, "IT" fired back up after sitting for many hours. Makes me think of something like the coil is breaking down when hot. Just don't know.

Anyway, last night I installed the new steering wheel and the quasi road runner horn. Today I installed new rear shocks (removing the air shocks) and brought the nose up a bit.

So I fire it up thinking I'll get a lil **** for you guys and gals, and take it for a spin. But all is still not well in the land of "IT". "IT" fired right up, but had a very long and loud lifter tick in it....to the point I was about ready to pronounce the cam wiped out. But that finally quieted down. Problem is, "IT" is still running poorly, missing, doesn't really want to rev above 3K, and popps in the exhaust.

:angry7:

here is some **** anyway
