massive reconfiguration time again.

Yeah I'm not even sure if I'm going to paint the body gold? I just did that to the motor compartment because it was kind of funky and different. It'll probably be a couple years before I paint it anyways and when I do I have hopes and aspirations of doing it myself. Maybe just touching up the very little body work that needs to be done (dings and such) and renting a booth and shooting it. I never see myself having 10K to get it painted..
I agree with that I'm in the same boat I'm never gonna have the money to pay someone to do the body and paint it right so I'm gonna do it myself and just do the best job I possibly can. I have seen alot of DIY home paint jobs turn out really nice. I have also seen them turn out really crappy. I have done one of those myself.
So this go around I'm painting the bay first then after the engine is in and it is drivable I will slowly start the bodywork and eventually paint it. The same color as the engine bay.

The engine bay is a good way to teach yourself how to paint, it is one of the hardest thing to shoot.

I'm gonna use spi epoxy. Do I have to strip it down to bare metal entirely? Or can it be sprayed over old primer and paint? The primer is old red lacquer primer. It's so damn tough I can't sandblast it off.

Just sand it clean and smooth, 400 grit.
Shoot a small area and see if it lifts.
Prep is where paint is.

400?? I was thinking it needed to be rougher than that for the epoxy? Here is where I left off last fall with the bay.

That rusty mess, sandblast then use 80 grit on a DA.

Trying to give these Spirit of 76 buckets a good cleaning.
I have a question about the brackets they seem to be almost the same like as if the driver side is backwards or something? The spring seems to be dragging it the correct way, but the leaver is back further on the driver side and the passenger side is front further as in they're not symmetrical?

The paint still wet but in a day or so I'll be able to go get the tires mounted. It should dull down a little bit...

Post pictures of the tracks.

Missing a couple aren't you?
Yeah that's the two non-functional so to say sides... And you can see that the throw arms are different. My phone is pissing me off and won't download the next two pictures.. I'll keep trying to give me a second...

I just got a call back from a local mopar guy who deals with these kind of parts. He says he's had and seen where some had cross over cables and some that just operated or locked with the outside track only?? He also looked inside his demon while I was talking to him and he said the passenger side adjuster was further forward than the driverside..?

Are you talkin about sanding epoxy primer? You don't do that. Epoxy primer is not sandable. It balls up and does not sand. Lay down epoxy primer and let it cure, then shoot a sandable primer over it. That's how it's done.
On another thread I have had a couple different ppl tell me that using SPI epoxy primer it can be sanded and top coated. Idk I have never used it.

Funeral tomorrow. Sister in law's mother not mine. I will try to get my passanger side bucket out this weekend and get pictures. I need it out to seal the floor anyway.

Well no rush! I'm sorry to hear about all that..

I never thought of using just one track to lock it in as my mind always goes to the bench seat which isn't impossible...
