My lower back is junk

Inversion table was the best thing I ever did for my herniated disc.
I want to try one too, what brand did you buy?

I had a really good chiropractor years ago who told me the best thing I could do for my back was to stop keeping my wallet in a back pocket. I still go from time to time for adjustments, have had lower back pain for most of my adult life. Being 6 ft 7 in tall doesn't help, always having to bend over to work. I had a really good physiotherapist for a couple of years that also did acupuncture with amazing results. Unfortunately she moved away and I haven't found another one yet. Most of my pain is in the right hip area, walking helps me a lot, so I try to do as much as possible.
My wallet is too thin to do any harm.

Mine looks something like that. Got it off Amazon. Easy to adjust, but at 230 lbs it will put some stress on my ankles if I really lay it back. That one looks like it may have more comfortable ankle cuffs. Think surface area. You don't have to go full vertical to get results. Better to ease into it.

The not so funny thing about narcotics is when you run out and have withdrawals then you're entire body hurts

I got my results back today on my MRI from yesterday on my lower back. I’m screwed. I’ll wait to see what the doctor says on Monday, I’m going in this Wednesday for my neck surgery to fuse my spine.

Good luck with your recovery

Went very well, thank you, went back to work after two days off. Now on to my lower back.
That's great. Hope the lower back can be fixed boy is a painful lower back a curse or what

Amazing difference in the last 20 days ... Chiropractor has me about 85% better now, took many trips to him ( just got back from todays adjustment ) I feel so much better

@Big Dad were you given the option for surgery? I just had my lower back surgery done, and it’s the best surgery I’ve had. My legs don’t fall asleep I can feel my feet. I can walk without pain, my lower back doesn’t bother me, a little stiff after the surgery but that’s it.

Been there, done that. My chiropractor has been my savior but I still have issues. I fell out of a semi trailer and landed flat on my *** years ago. I have some lumbar disc damage that could probably be fixed. I have been to the doctor, neurologist and orthopedic surgeon. My insurance doesn't want to pay for corrective surgery unless it's debilitating and I'm not able to function.
Can you switch insurances? My insurance covered my whole back surgery without question.

I blew the disk at L5-S1 junction. Not sure how/when it happened, kinda snuck up on me. Full impingement on the spinal cord. Couldn't feel my left foot of nearly two years, constant pain sitting or standing. Hated the pain meds and quit taking them after a week. Went to spinal specialist and got the MRI to figure out what it was. Started PT and made some progress but then stalled out. I DID NOT want any kind of fusion surgery so I got two epidurals 3 months apart and that took care of 90% of the pain by reducing the swelling. Still got to be very careful how I move, lift, or sit. Losing weight helps a lot and it is all about core strength to stabilize the spine and provide separation and not rely on the disks. I'm 55 now and pretty active with golf, bowling, softball and competition shooting but I get by pretty well for an old(er) fart.
You’re not old at all, don’t wait too long to have it fixed. I just had my surgery on my lower back and I refused to have my back fused like my neck. They did have to cut away some of the disc and remove part of the outer bone but I feel better after 40 years of pain, numbness and tingling.

I learned never to fuse anything, the ex had a fusion, and what a pain that was.

I messed around with a Dr. for 2 years telling me I had pulled muscles in my back and shoulders.... until the disc in my neck grenaded and paralyzed me from head to toe on my left side. It happened in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. ER at 3 am and emergency surgery as soon as a neurosurgeon could get to the hospital. The concern was not being paralyzed but the fact the collapsed spinal cord get could stop my heart or breathing. 9 months of PT trying walk again. Subsequently have had 2 microdiscectomies on the first disc above my hips with more PT following both. A lumbar fusion is not in the cards for me as the 3 discs above have issues and a fusion moves the load upwards and accelerates degeneration at that level.

Celebrex is my friend, without it I don't walk. Similar to Meloxicam but less caustic to the liver and stomach supposedly, but as stated these types of drugs can mask other issues so you have to pay attention. I'm on pretty much the max dose.

Get an MRI. Find out if you're dealing with a muscular issue or something far more serious before you have a Chirocracker start banging on you. My original GP suggested I should go see one which I declined. Chiro's like to work off x-rays. None of which my damage was present on. The only thing they are doing for you, their science, is trying adjust your bones against the muscle tension their under. A chiro cracking my neck could have killed me in his office. They will never hand you a pamphlet demonstrating some simple stretching exercises and tell you that you won't have to keep coming back by doing such. With a regular stretching and a mild exercise routine you will stay loosened up and aligned. The stuff you learned in PT, yoga, etc. At some point you have to help yourself. 20 years later after completing collectively almost 18 months of PT I still get on the floor with a couple rolled up towels and some pillows and roll around like a walrus.
Orthopedic surgeons, while they may be great at fixing broken bones and hip replacements, they are not skilled on the same level as Neurosurgeons although those I encountered thought they were.
The longer you mess around with the wrong doctors or ignore the problem the better your chances are for the nerve damage to become permanent.

To many hours in bed has put my lower back out, I was feeling depressed and low energy for a good long while earlier this year, spent to many hours sleeping. Toe ups as I lay down to a count of one hundred, three set ups until I get my strength back every evening before bed, I could use one of those upside down tables

I had Kyphoplasty procedure done about 10 days ago. What was thought to be a herniated disc was a fracture. Back is better, but not completely repaired. I have some arthritis, but not enough to cause the continual pain I had. Hoping back will improve because of the procedure, but I'm reading where it should be immediate. Will be seeing my back Dr. next week so we'll see.

Well I'll stop complaining about my back ache after lifting heavy objects and start asking for help before.
