I'm stripping my 69 baracuda, I'll be putting just the bare essentials plastic windows, race seats, gauges, cage. I need some referrals on a steering system??

Car was originally a big block low 9 second car. Still has the parachute mount and cable from those days.
I'll take more photos this weekend.
Les, can you post some pics of how rear side plastic window is install and how it matches with the door window??? I'm going to be installing Mymensingh plastic windows and would like to see..
 
Sorta got a new best (considering the bad air)...The car ran 10.38 @ 129 hitting the rev limiter just before the stripe in 3400' warm humid air (this was key...it has run 30's before, but the air was much better then). This makes me really exited for the fall...I believe it will run a 10.1-10.0 in good air :)
New bests with this motor, 1.38 60', 6.44 @ 105.9mph, 10.19 @ 130.5mph...and there is still more in it...I just need a non race day (TNT night) with good air to go for it.
 
72 Duster 60 over 440, stock stroke eagle crank scat rods ross pistons 11.5:1 trick flow 240 heads .620 solid purple cam M1 intake 950 proform carburetor. 727 8" turbo action 3800 converter 4.56 Dana 60 28 10.5 M/T pro bracket radials. Were first two passes on fresh build so lifted at 1000'.

New best. 1/8 mile race this past weekend went 6.53@103 with a 1.39 60'
 
New personal best in the 1/4 mile yesterday at New England Dragway, running the Ray Rice Memorial Race, 10.15 @129. 166 cars entered the race, went 3 rounds before taking a nap at the tree.
 
One of our first passes last year. 6.60 in the 1/8 Big block 470 557" lift flat top, stock elderbrock heads. Would run 10.30's in 1/4

How much does it weigh ? I'm in process of building a 470 for a 70 dart, trickflow 240s, 11.5:1 compression, auto (haven't picked a stall yet) but I was just wondering if you think the cam I have is enough to get into low 10s, it's howards solid f/t 260-264 .616-.620 but have 1.6 Harlan sharp rockers to add more lift. I have a 4.88 geared Dana 60 but maybe changing those gears to 4.56
 
MOPARMAGA. I ran that cam in a 440 with home ported eddies, 10.7 comp. at 3500 lbs. Car ran a best of 6.68 in the 1/8. Changed to the howards 272 @.050 and .639 lift and ran a best of 6.49. Dont know what your car weighs but you have more comp. and much better heads. I think it should be there. I run a 5000 stall and 4.30 gear. best 1/4 is 10.48 at 130.

Thanks for your reply, going to try my best to be at 3200 lbs with a cage & me in it. Next year I'll move on over to a howards solid roller but maybe this cam is fine for a couple seasons. Will definitely be my fastest car even if it runs low 11s.

And then a nitrous pass, pulled 4* 40% launch ramp to 100% @ 1.0 seconds. Nitrous hit rpm limit just before the stripe. This was on a (100) jetting. Right hand side.. car 168.

At the top of 3rd just before I let off the nitrous controller shut the nitrous off. It hit the rpm limit I had set for nitrous. That was the first full rip wasn't sure how much more rpm it would turn.

And yes.. the video has some distortion and isn't timed properly.. might be the dragy just doesn't like my android. Lol

Hey I just have a question for you real low 10 second guys. How much power are you making ?
I'm aiming at 700+ with my 471 & wondering since I only want this car to run no faster than 10.00.
I know there's many other factors, let's assume they're optimal, will I need more or less in a 3000 pound 70 dart ?

700-750 ought to do it. If you could lose a couple of hundred pounds that would help a lot. Rear end gearing and tire size should get you to where you want to be, provided you can rev that motor high enough. 6.35 8th mile and 10.0 quarter.

wont need remotely close to 700 horse. At 3000 pounds, wont need much if any more than a true 600 ponies.
To give you an idea, my W5 deal made a “ true” 650 and ran 9.80’s at 3350.
I sold it to a guy who improved it. Best Machine dyno’ed it…made 708. At 708 it went 9.62@140 weighing 3220. The numbers work out.
Dont need remotely close to 700 to run 10 flat in a light car.
600-625 should get it done easily at 3000 pounds
 
3000lbs, 600fwhp = 9.96@134+.....my mates Dart 440, 3150lbs, 12.7:1, MCH Eddies 320cfm@.600, .590 purple sft cam, victor int. 950DP then a 1050 Dom went a best of 10.16@132 = 600hp, 5000 flash stall and dbl adjbl's, 4.56 13x31's...6800trap rpm, cam was small really, 9 sec car with better cam.
forgot to say SS springs .
