Here you go. I went ahead and did it before bed. Looks pretty strong.
Ok that'll work, I'll get in touch with them. Thank you sir for the reply and a cool thread.No I cannot. You need to call Oregon Cam Grinders. Thanks to Karl (KrazyKuda), they now have that cam available. Their grind came out a minuscule amount different, but for all practical purposes, the cam they grind IS IT. Just ask them for the 68 340 grind. They will tell you all about it.
The CS644 is not the 4 speed cam. That's the later grind they all superseded to. That would not be a bad choice though. At all.
@Vince Gillespie:
I don't think you will really feel a big seat of the pants difference if you had the two identical cars minus camshafts sitting side by side on a road test, but there will be a minor difference at the big end when you cross the finish line.

and there you have it!! It just depends on what you feel is important-driving or dreaming!I could not agree more with Rusty’s OP.
I bought my 69 Barracuda as a beater (No motor, random 4spd in trunk).. spent 4 years building it.. and it still looks like a beater, but now it has a 440, and I LOVE it, and so does everyone on the road.
The only expensive parts are in the clutch and exhaust system.
I run a stock 1977 motorhome 440 ($500) in front of a 4 speed transmission that I rebuilt, stock $35 ignition box from O’Reilly, stock ballast resistor (I have a backup), original paint, original suspension (and all bushings ) and steering (ps), original wiring throughout, TQ carb... oh, and $35 seat covers and no carpeting .
My original plan was basic safety and road worthiness, and to NOT get sucked into the rat race for horsepower and shiny crap, or anything else that would keep it off the road. I stuck to that plan, and still stickin to it.
Yup! I say drive the dream car. Perfect or not. Enjoy it as soon as you can. This doesn’t have to be long drawn out build of perfection. If you want that perfect car, fine. I see a lot of builds start out one way and end up a museum build and worried about endlessly and soon there stopped being driven over worry.and there you have it!! Took me a long time to come to this conclusion and ultimately part of the reason my build got off to such a slow start. I wanted to build it perfectly and therefore was trying to save and find the best stuff and what not, eventually I realize that I can make use of what I have and bam, progress started. Lessons I should have followed long before.Yup! I say drive the dream car. Perfect or not. Enjoy it as soon as you can. This doesn’t have to be long drawn out build of perfection. Yea, sometimes we be a bit slow to remember such things... like a factory intake and carb isn’t a bad thing. People go out and get the best stuff for there 340/360 and run a 15, 14 or mid 13 and don’t know why when they think they should have laid down a low 12 or better.Took me a long time to come to this conclusion and ultimately part of the reason my build got off to such a slow start. AgreedStock styled drivers.They often outperform that nasty idling overcamd' show piece in every way except "wow factor"and they are worry free for the most part. And i don't know why we don't see more "more doors" So economical to buy and build!
not just glitts here , more go then show here
