Stop in for a cup of coffee

How did drill weekend work out Chris?
Eh so so. Passed all the physical crap. Then they looked at me Sunday morning, sprung a surprise APFT on me, which I passed to everyone’s surprise. By the way, this is all at the battalion level, unit was fighting on my side on this one. Anyway, I’m free and clear to extend if I want.

Oh and man, the new 20 yr old private is..... well let’s just say she’s going to draw a lot of attention from male soldiers if you catch my drift.

She’s on my team and I’ve already had to put the squash on people’s comments.

Well glad to hear you have a GO to re-enlist. Do it, finish it up, and enjoy the retirement some day. Hoppy and I will tell you Tri-care is great!!

Morning. Still quite warm this morning
Forecast says 82,i think it will be hotter.

I’m only doing a 1 year extension. Mainly because I found out, my CO has inquired about a direct commission for me. Not sure that’ll pan out. But that gives them time to consider it and me to continue trying to get healthier and can re-evaluate . Good news is, I’m fully cleared now so barring anything crazy happening, next year if I want to extend again, will be a breeze

Frank out overnight low was 74. 82 is nothing here, but probably uncomfortable if your not use to it.
Won't be too long and you'll be reporting the negative something temps.

Hey I did 33 years, with five of that Active Duty as a Guard member. It was a nice check and the health insurance was awesome!! Plus I enjoyed my time served.

I did a month short of 25 before I had to get out. Three more years to get a check!

7 active USN, then over 5 active guard/reserve USNR/UASFG Ton of points over 4200. That's the ticket do as many courses you can to earn points.

Well considering the lows have been near the freezing mark and its 70 something now this morning We were already conditioned for the cooler weather.

Ray remember for every quarter served in a combat zone, you get your retirement check a quarter earlier. I got mine early.
Figure your retirement date factoring in your combat zone duty.
A year out from that date, contact the retirement NCO at the State Guard HQTS or Reserve Regional HQTS you retired from.
Don't wait or think they will contact you. You have to start the process. It was simple and painless in my experience.
As we know no one in the military takes better care of you, than you!!

Hey Z man are all your house guests onsite yet?
Daughter and Grandkids are in the air as we speak. They had to come a week earlier due to a lack of military seats next week. I pick them up at 6pm tonight.
I go back to the airport tomorrow and pick John up.
The SNL comes in next week after his leave starts.
Easier for him as a single on leave to get a seat.
Full house!!

I know that have a few that will be added on. The USAF guard was a pia they would pull you out at 89 days most of the time. Rescue was weird, we would be in a non combat area for most of the time then fly into the holy hell areas and set up for a month or so then back to the safe areas. No idea if the safe areas (mostly Turkey) count. I did get combat pay the whole time though. I do have to say one thing I have a ton of respect for the Iraqi Kurds. The Iraqis would hit them with chemical weapons, the Turks would bomb them daily. We go in they were freaking awesome to have around great people. Amazing they survive to this day.

Yes combat pay is the key. Any quarters after 1 Jan 2008 will count towards early retirement date.
