Stop in for a cup of coffee

:soapbox:I get that stores don’t want to pay ‘extra’ people. But if you are going to run a skeleton crew, at least have someone competent in key positions. Stopped in Home Depot on my way to work yesterday for a couple cans of spray paint. Need approval because of idiots that sniff paint. Lol. Saw multiple employees around other parts of store doing little to nothing. Woman that is supposed to do that is on other side of counter a little ways down but should easily have heard register loudly proclaiming ‘self checkout customer needs assistance’ about every 30 seconds. After 5-6 times she starts moving. Walks out to the aisle... and goes the other way. :wtf: I was already cutting it close on time to get to work, so walked out without my paint.

Leave a bad review on the white pages thingy.

I did that with a burger joint here. Horrible service, horrible quality. I gave them one star and posted pics of their unclean environment.

Unfortunately welcome to 21st century America. I stopped shopping at Home Depot, Lowe’s etc . Local building supply store that’s a mom and pop that has been in business forever not only has better service, but their prices are competitive enough to stay in business. Sometimes they’re a tad higher, sometimes they’re lower, depends on the item.

And I’m not the only one that feels that way cause they are always packed. Home Depot, never more than 2-3 people in line ever

Tim might know more.
I think you got a AT&T lackey reading from a script. DSL sends packets on the same wires the analog current carrying voice. The final leg from the exchange should not be shared - it just might be long, old, and oxidized or have bad connections.
Cable service does share the line - almost to the house. If it makes you feel better, everyone suffers when there is high demand. That's one of the complaints with cable here. They need to go to those better lines, whatever they are, if they're planning to be competitive against FIOS and soon or later, 5G.
Matt is correct. DSL has serious limitations. Distance from fiber end is the biggest one. A DSL signal degrades very quickly after about 6k feet. Now to get DSL to go further, they lower the max speed, max attainable. See, the more speed you try to push down the pair, the more it degrades. RF interference is the next biggest issue with DSL. Where as Coax is shielded, DSL run on twisted pairs. The tighter the twist the less RF interference you can get. However, not all of ATandT plant, or outside, wiring is twisted. I can go on and on, BUT DSL does not share bandwidth. Just the further you are, the worse it gets. Physics.

My daughter has been swimming competitively for the past two years on school teams and in swim club leagues. She is very good at it and takes it very seriously. She is on 3 different teams.

Her birthday is next month and today I bought her some high tech equipment as her birthday gift.

High tech swim equipment? Really?

Hell yeah, welcome to the new world...

How many Mbps does it take to stream television?
About 1.5 MBS for Netflix. I have seen it run on 600kBPS but it was iffy. For 4K TV, you need 5K. All Digital TV streams are compressed. The faster the speed at the device, the less compression, and the better the quality. Devices "negotiate" the best speed for service.

Anytime I'm forced to use self checkout, I'm forced to give myself the 'employee discount'..

No good options here. I do go to a different HD when I have time. But this one in on my way to work.

Wow.. That clears it up!

Well, my iPad in the garage running over WiFi is at 83 Mbps download speed. I think I’m good!

Hey guys, I am on DSL at 5 mbs, 3 miles from the switch box, right at the distance limit before it falls on it's face.

I am happy with this for this area in the country, but now they have trenched in a fiber optics line right past my house with a junction box and junction boxes at all the neighbors too for access.

I know it takes time for them to build out this new network but what can I expect when it is done. Speeds and how to hookup into my home ?

Yep... Corporate America wonders why their sales are low at the brick and mortar stores... When you go in there, you can't get any service from the employees, or even find one... That's the reason to go to one of those stores vs buy over the internet is you want some advice on the products before you buy and you can't find anyone that can help... :mob:

Classic example is Sears.... Before they closed, when you went in there you couldn't get any help... The stores were so empty that you could roll a bowling ball down the main aisles and not hit anyone, especially an employee....

The mom and pop stores give much better service... The local Ace Hardware stores here have people greeting you as you enter the store asking if you need any help finding anything... The price may be a little higher than the big chain stores, but the service is much better... :D :steering:
