Stop in for a cup of coffee

The body shop that's working on my Duster has changed operations but is still banging away. Office gal working from home, no drop by "check on yer cars". I get that.

I stopped at the local Wawa today to fill my gas tank. I was happy to see they have a person dedicated to the lot who is wiping down every pump handle and key pad with disinfectant after each customer uses them.

That’s how a good business shows it’s responsibility.

I also watched as every customer who was entering the store gave each other a respectable amount of extra space and held doors open for others so they wouldn’t have to touch the handles.

The finer parts of American spirit are starting to show.

We are greater together than we are apart, and somehow it is built deep into the American spirit. After the initial panic, people are showing it again.

Nice to see.

Good Afternoon All! Well, wife got the pink slip today, they are closing her office because Corona, won't reopen. Not good timing with our conversion from construction loan to mortgage. She works till the end of month discharging clients. Hopefully if we do get asked by the bank if we are both still working we can say "yes" with a sorta straight face....
Sorry to hear. Good luck.

Why would they not reopen at some point?

My daughter works as sales lead in 2 part time retail jobs. On is women’s clothing other is a shoe store. Don’t know how long it will last, but both are paying her scheduled hours.

Our "Island County" update for today says Covid-19 now widespread. 16 confirmed cases, Island County includes Whidbey (54 miles long) and Camano Island. There have been 66 deaths in the State now tho. Will watch those numbers and continue to find ways to isolate. Doing more online than before, fixing lawn tractor with online parts, working alone in substations by design with co-worker etc.

Bean counters. It's a "for profit" operation, she's cycled from too many clients to low numbers and back. Kinda weird if you think about it, they need a certain number, they are losing money due to closing down, are cutting a couple of remote locations. Bad thing is that she did an awesome job standing that new office up, boss is praising her constantly because she doesn't need any baby sitting etc., don't matter tho...

Our workplace has made a bunch of changes. But see many individuals not taking it serious enough. People not giving space, taking lunch together...Told a couple people ‘6 ft’ already.

Trialed our work from home network speeds and connection today...so I worked from home and all went well. By the end of my work day my boss calls and tells me to just continue to work from home and, he is gonna call me with more instruction later. I am happy to be able to stay away from the masses right now as my health conditions put me in the high risk of getting the worst side of this virus.

I hope you guys make it through this healthy and financially stable enough to survive it this way also...

I don’t see my job changing unless they are ordered to close. So, much more focus on the health aspect for now.
Be safe brother...I have asthma and diabetes so 2 of the top 3 things on the high risk chart...I think they are looking at people who are high risk and if they can do something to work from home they are letting them. I have been with my company for 21 years and, I am 1 of only 3 people who work directly for the Vice- President of the company. He and I get along very well and I think all that helps.

Saw our local grocery stores both had signs out front saying “If you need work, we need you! Cashier and stocking positions available.”

They are specifically giving priority to local people sidelined in the food and hospitality businesses to help them make ends meet while they expand staff to serve the public.

I love that!!! Help out the people who have been taken out of their jobs by this...

Yes, the company is across the entire state. Not sure what their financial situation is but I can say my wife told them NOT to give up court mandated clients but they did anyway, that's a source of steady income and they ignored that. She could easily be a manager, she's got mad organizational and people skills, knows that stuff inside out but doesn't want the headache, don't blame her. Most employees are much more difficult to get what you need out of them, so it's ironic. She'll find work, she'll succeed. Met her in the Navy at base indoc. I was a second class (E-5), she was an airman apprentice (E-2). She just about passed me in rank before the Navy separated her for being pregnant with our first child....

The local grocery stores that were 24/7 have changed their hours today to be 6 am to 10 pm.

After 10 pm they will be cleaning the store and restocking. Hours from 6-7 am are reserved for people over 65 only...while the store is freshly clean and stocked.

They aren’t checking proof of age, but if you are clearly under 65 they promise to make you wait until later in the day.

No work mon through thursday.
Have a full day friday and maybe some work next week.

april the classic cars start again, two already waiting.
Plus 3 weeks worth of mower maintenance coming up. I get to do my old government job, but at 3 times the hourly wage

The guy getting the wood out of my back yard has a son that works at Safeway, he says he is BUSY!!! Restaurants in Seattle are also changing gears to curb side service, delivery, take out. We tried Amazon and Schwans for online food today, lots sold out. I hope and think supply levels will even out so not panicking.

The commissary here is limiting people in the store to 50 at a time....smart.

A lot of the waiters and waitresses here have been reassigned to help with take-out and curb-side pick-up. I know a few and they are amazed at the tips, generosity and kindness of the customers.

America at its finest.

I wasn't state side during 9-11 but I heard the same thing was happening here then. Don't care what the crazies say, we are a good people.

Well, as long as we still have power and my computer remains functional...I won’t be bored by staying at home!

Two more of the dozens of images waiting for me to work on...
