I tried a stripper.
No not that type.
Didn't really help.

Not sure who/when where the RTV got in the transpan screws - sure wasnt me.

Here's a better shot of the engine's oil pan.
I know exactly who did that. Friend's shop - and one of the reasons not ever going to let his guy touch any of my cars ever again.

He put the old pan on the new engine because he noticed the pan that was on it had some rust spots in it when installing the dipstick tube???

Did I mention I hate RTV?

Silicone and too much torque. (could have been after it started leaking.) Silicone seems to soften and break down cork/rubber. I rarely had transmission pan leaks. I made sure they were straight and tightened the bolts down with a short handled 1/4" drive ratchet. (and no silicone)

Mopar still makes a leak proof trans gasket for 904. The dealers stock them. For a Dakota...

Interesting.
Of course if anyone needs 904 type gaskets, just let me know. I have abpout half dozen saved from the various filter changes. The filters always seem to come with gaskets - both a 727 and 904 gasket.
Today's is Carquest brand made by 'Pro-King'. Seemed a little narrower, but I have faith.

My issue with the junk in the threads was mostly that it would prevent propper torquing.
I used a thread file after cleaning the stripper and spraying down with brake clean.
Went over the pan with some 600 sand paper. hammered the high spots on a wood block, then finsihed with some 1600 paper.

Wonder if a rock tumbler would have solved that problem

Contact cement, i prefer trim and detail cement. Or high tack.

Morning!
64 here. Thunderstorm last night. Finally got some much needed rain.

Got my gas pedal adjusted.
Chopped it off with a grinder, moved it and clamped the rods together with a cable clamp. Got the bigfoot mounted back on the pedal too. Found a tachonmeter, and tested it. It works. Already figured out where i want to hang it.
