No, electricians have no business sticking their fingers into automotive wiring.im referring to household wiring guys. They use scotch locks and marrettes (wire nuts)
im getting pissed at this ****. I hate electrical
I have power to the head light sockets. I have brand new bulbs, but the lights won’t work

Lol thanks. I went to lunch. I just don’t get how I have power to the socket and it shuts off as it should when the switch is off, but not a single bulb tries to light, combine this with still nothing happening at the switch when I try to crank it.... but yet power to the switch and all switches new...

When your ready.
Exactly how did you test the headlight sockets?

Then how did you try the lamps?
Test light. Then once I had power. I plugged in the new bulbs and then bolted them back in and pulled the switch.

Lets do one step at a time.

This test lamp. is it battery powered?

OK. So this is not a self-powered test lamp.

What you just tested is whether those locations on positive circuit are each connected.

Ground. Remember, the middle prong is not ground, unless you are an electchicken.

Non self powered. Battery hooked up.
One to ground, the other end probe the terminal of interest.

Like this.

This shows the positive circuit works but doesn't test the headlight socket's ground.

If that works, then check the headlight ground circuit.

So just to check myself, to test the ground circuit it’s the opposite, so I’ll connect one end to the ground and the other to the positive terminal in the socket??

The way I drew those examples, the first test is just the positive part of the circuit.
The second test is the whole circuit.

I don't know what those wingnutz at Vanderberg AFB are up to, but it sounds like Tim's neighborhood when Camp Pendleton is having artillery practice out there.
