Stop in for a cup of coffee

BTW... WV.. i usually put that cable on the arm before putting the shoe on... it's a little easier but not much.

The cable that runs to both sices and hooks up to those cables. Usually just wire rope

Good morning everyone. 30⁰ today. My parts for Friday look like they will be late. Grrrr

If you have your old cables double check the length of the new ones... Also.. if you can get it together under tension but can get the drums on, hit the e-brake a few times.. those cables will stretch a bit at first

That's where the fistfight is taking place. Runs from the fixed points off the wheels, and hooks up to the cable assembly that comes out of the passenger compartment. Both drums are set and seem fine, and running the new one from the ebrake lever to the cross member was fine. It's the long cable that connects it all together.

Lemme get my coffee going and I'll go grab a picture

Yup that one. Actually, Sent Tim a swedge., that's how we got to know each other. Think the Cuda one will fit?

Double checked those last night. Same length. Which leads me to thing that the cable assembly coming from the ebrake lever is the culprit. The threaded rod where the cable bracket is connected.

you can't pull the ebrake arm forward enough to get it on? i am trying to find a pic of mine but it was right around where your cable is when installed

I was thinking about just going to the hardware store, getting a length of cable and swaging it myself
you will never get it gone well enough to hold... i have never used the ebrake though but good to be safe

I actually ran a ratchet strap from the center of the cable to the K frame at one point trying to stretch things out. Can't get the damn nut on the threaded rod when I did that though. It pulls at a weird angle.

Make sure the first cable from the brake lever is backed off all the way also. Usually, the nut on the end of the cable.

Dunno.. you should be able to pull the e-brake arm forward enough to get that cable on.. very weird

Stupid question the e brake in the car off? I have done that stuff!
Umm.. wasn't gonna mention this.. but all of my test driving so far (20miles) i had the ebrake on... which means 2 things.. i suck.. and the ebrake is **** :) At some point i hooked it all up and tested it and never released it.... Also explains why my rear brakes were 140 degrees.... I didn't notice til i went to pull the axles to do the gear and i couldn't get the drums off...

Thanks

I'm going to go through it all again. It was late in the day yesterday and I was at the point of breaking things and setting them on fire, so decided to put tools away and take a break.

I will see if I can find my cable and measure it for you. That one a new cable?

WV, the 62's are different but does yours have a spot where the cables come together with a long *** bolt/nut to adjust tension? Try putting the cables on the brakes first then attaching that?
