did ya read it? you can't put shims on these hoods..
I have a pile of those shims - little U-shaped things squared in the outside corners, of varying thickness from about 3/16 down. They don't go in the hood latches. They go in the fenders, can go on just about any bolt that meeds 'em but generally turn up on the big ones in the top and back. If ya' didn't have any ya' could probly use 5/16 washers.

Also know as Alignment shims.. Used Mostly on Chebbies and Furds....

I used to think those shims were a GM thing only because I have seen GM cars built with ton of those and I never saw them on anything Chrysler. Then one day I was taking a low miles original valiant apart and there were ships like that on the rear fender stud, the one that you can only get the nut off with the door open.

So that makes me think Chrysler may have used shims although to date, that is the Chrysler I have ever had with them. they were not chrome, instead painted black.

I also have seen them, or something similar, on B Body cars, where the fender meets the cowl, on the back/top corner. I'm talking , unmolested cars...

There was a previous discussion of that on here in 2014 -http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/hood-alignment.263048/
67 hoods are different than 68/9 hoods. he needed to keep the same hood hinges with the hood from the donor car.

Guys have that problem trying to put a dart sport hood on a 69 cuda. There are differences in the adjuster sliders but bringing the corresponding hood hinges with you solve that.

I am thinking they didn't use the shims on the assembly line, but when you had a car with that was misaligned the inspector would flag it and they sent cars with problems to a body shop at the factory to fix problems because they didn't have time to mess with stuff like that on the assembly line.

So I bet those shims came from the Chrysler body shop in house at the factory which is why so few cars have them in the big picture.

I have seen 4 unmolested B body cars with shims in place already.

its possible all four saw the body shop in the factory, I would be interested to know if they had a lot of inspection marks, Like I have seen some cars with a grease pen mark on the radiator support or various places under hood to mark the car. My 72 swinger had a bunch of bright blue grease pen marks

too cool - I thought "slappy" was reserved for basses...
I wanted it pretty rocky 'cause I don't play a lot of leads though ya' gotta have riffs and I wanted it to do those in between big crash chords without needin' a lot of pedals and stuff, so I geared it pretty much for clear channel. Cool stuff about the ASAT electronics is, like the old Jaguars, ya' can isolate the pickups so there's a little delay between 'em and it sounds kinda like an electric 12-string. Play this song, it sounds about like this -

Or ya' can just play thru that original single-coil in the back and sound just like surf guitar on a tube amp.

On distortion it gets real slinky and bendy and ya' get giant feedback; ya' can get away with murder. I broke or lost a lot o' parts shakin' it around to make it scream.

So, nobody's lookin' to buy one of these but it does what I want.

Hey! The Box arrived!!! Unboxing in my build thread.

Karl, let me tell you, I was so surprised to find what looks lika a complete engine gasket set. Plus a 727 (?) transmission pan gasket. Thank you!

And guess what? I didn't have to pay any customs or taxes! So much win!

One of the rear end shims was on back order, though. I suppose it'll show up eventually, Karl. I guess we'll deal with that when it gets to you.

I'm a little confused by the brake booster, though. It looks bigger than I expected. And the M/C is clearly not the same as the one I already had. Any clues?

Also, I don't remember talking about the tank sending unit seal ring. Did Hops or Karl put it in there?

And thanks for the clips, Mitch!
