I might as well post this here. Pretty tasty. Triple barrel finished, bourbon, charred oak, and rye barrels. It is a whiskey drinkers Scotch.

Cheers! For me, thumbs up to the Mezcal. I don't smoke but enjoy second hand segar or pipe smoke and I would have to play some Doobie Bros. or Boston for starters. I'm sipping on some Jack Daniels Single barrel, Barrel Proof rye. It's hard to believe 133.7 proof can be so enjoyable for the first pour of the night. And it's a barrel pick from a friends store.Taco Tuesday usually involves some tequila but on this 50 degree quickly fall eve it's Mezcal with a cigar out back. Listening to some music reading FABO. Cheers all.

a few in out bourbon tasting group are getting Bourbon Burnout. They have branched out to Tequila's and some rums. I have just a few nice Tequilas that I enjoy sipping on neat. A Herradura Double Barrel Reposado is a favorite. I'm not quite there with the bourbon burnout thing, but I chase blends and finishes which are quite popular right now. I like Barrel Picks because you can sample before buying and they are usually barrel proof single barrels. I need to look but probably over half of my collection are picks. I am a big rye fan as well mainly because of the complexity.Bourbon is my go to drink of choice but it's Taco Tuesday!
I am taking a liking to unpeated Scotches' and Irish. They are really simple for me though. I'll stick with my Ryes for complexity. Not a huge Highland fan, but that's a good pick, regardless
I am... FFS ..Madness today
My buddy Ted has a bottle of that. I can't believe I don't.
Interested in the tasting. Very cool combinationsWhisky tasting group tonight. Interesting Scotch bottles. They are apparently an up and coming distillery from The Island of Raasay, Scotland. I see unpeated and combines peated and unpeated spirit matured separately in American rye, chinkapin oak and Bordeaux red wine casks. It should be fun. And, of course, a dozen or so sample bottles will be hauled in by members for sharing.

Well, I shared some of this with a friend and he raved about it. It is some pretty goof hooch. This was a barrel pick from late July, I wonder if they still have some? Naw, I doubt it. I commented on the store's Facebook site and the store owner messaged me 2 min later that they still have a few bottles left. Well, grab Ted, hop in the truck and head south an hour to pick up some. One extra for me, 2 for Ted and one for Dennis. Heck, that's 4 and I know I will wish I had picked up another. FFS, one bottle less than a case. Sell us a case. Done! Plenty of extras now. Perfect.Cheers! For me, thumbs up to the Mezcal. I don't smoke but enjoy second hand segar or pipe smoke and I would have to play some Doobie Bros. or Boston for starters. All 3 of these were good. One was finished in a wine cask, one in a rye cask and one in a Missouri oak barrel. Non peated and nice sippers. Not to complex and fairly young. I think they were $80 bottles so chasing them was a "no" for me.Whisky tasting group tonight. Interesting Scotch bottles. Thanks Mike. I'd written off Wild Turkey years ago as a lower shelf whiskey. Appreciate the write up. I might try a bottle now.Doing a little tasting for the group. I'll copy and paste the tasting notes.
WT 70
Nose: light vanilla and almond. After setting, I pick up an astringent note.
Palate: Vanilla, oak, a hint of almond. Light to medium creamy mouth feel.
Finish: Medium long finish with Vanilla and light almond.
101
Nose: Light apple and light oak
Palate: Light apple, baking spices (clove and cinnamon)
Finish: Medium long finish with powered sugar sweetness and light oak.
Overall: The 70 is a little creamier and mild. More refined. The 101 is a little coarse with sharp edges.
Both are tasty and actually quite different. It is a toss up if the 70 is worth the extra coin. TW101 is nice for the price! Just sayin'
