Issue with brand new truck. Advice on how to proceed?

-
Then my advice hasn't changed. Get all your proof together of why you HAD to wait and get an attorney. New is supposed to be NEW.

I contacted them last night at that number and was informed that it has been escalated to a case manager and he/she will contact me Monday. I'm all for letting them make things right, but I have a feeling that since the dealer has already been worthless in the customer service, that this issue will grow. It has already had a repair claim submitted and subsequently denied based on the fact that there appears to be a record of the purchasing dealer doing the initial botched paint repair.

That being said, I haven't actually put hands, nor eyes, on any official paperwork showing a denied claim from corporate.

await their call or call them back monday. I had a paint run fixed via this number. Typically a normal sales agent can get his dealer to fix minor stuff like this. I think you may be worked up over one idiot at a bs dealership, and at the end of the day, corporate will take care of you without issue. chrysler products carry a 5 year paint defect warranty...period.

Look in the back of the owner's manual for an 800 number for problems. Call them and file a complaint.

Next, contact your local Chrysler Zone Office and file a complaint.

Those are the proper channels to go through Chrysler for problems. If they do not resolve your issues, then document everything along the way and seek an attorney.

I would also bring up to Chrysler that there should be a warranty on the exterior for a new vehicle and this truck is still under that warranty. Also you are not happy that there were repairs done before delivery of the vehicle and were not disclosed at the time of sale. The repairs are not up to factory quality and you want it repaired or replaced with a new truck.

Also mention that you have some old Mopars and are a member of many forums and will post this all over the internet for them to loose sales over...

I don't care what brand it is, just because it is new does not mean it hasn't been repaired

I work in B&A plant and you would not believe what gets repaired before it leaves the plant.

In transportation they also get damaged and repaired

In most cases they will not disclose any of this. You ask the question and sounds like they lied to you, THAT IS WRONG

But if the repair isn't satifactory then have them fix it right.

Hope it works out for you.

Well it was definitely more than just one idiot. It was several idiots and lying rats...

BUT, I plan on hearing corporate out, and see what they have to say themselves.

I'll say it again, the dealer that I had submit the warranty repair request told me it was returned denied because the dealer I purchased the truck from is responsible for the repair, and that dealer is saying they never touched it.

I'm INCREDIBLY patient, and understand screw ups happen. HOWEVER, and PLEASE read this...

I did ask if there was any repairs done to the vehicle BEFORE I took delivery and the dealer that I bought it from said "NO" and that the dealer that they traded with is required to inform them of any repairs also.

NOW, The dealer that submitted the claim informed me that the dealer that I purchased from was the one that did the repair of the hood.

I.E. They lied thru their weasel $%^%$%^ teeth directly to my face, and I WILL NOT stand for that.

Well no call yesterday as promised and all I got today when I attempted to make contact was a voicemail system. Really showing the level of customer appreciation our bail out bucks got us.

So what Customer Support are you in contact with? Do what Krazykuda stated and contact the 800 number in the back of the owner's manual. A buddy of mine was getting the dealership runaround about some heater related issues on his Jeep. He contacted the 800 number and received a call from the dealer to bring it in. Was given a loaner while they looked into it. Also received a follow up call from Corporate.

I called 1 866 726 4636, which is the line listed on the web site to call. I also left a VM for the case manager. Either number gets you where you are supposed to be. Promised a call on Monday, still nothing on Tuesday. Pathetic IMO. Patience only has a limit, and this run around, denial bull**** takes it over the top. Been dealing with what SHOULD be a simple issue for over two months now. Seems they didn't actually invest our bail out bucks into the company at all.

this another reason to buy used. if you get screwed, then you don't feel wrong in whipping the guy with the ax handle behind the seat!???? LOL

maybe the customer service people at Dodge work full time for the fed. gov't and moonlight at dodge!????

its a sad thing for a hard working person to obligate themselves to spend that kind of money for a new vehicle to get ignored in this situation.

No they didn't.

They closed the St. Loius truck plant, and kept BOTH MEXICO plants open.... :finga: :finga: :finga:

OUR TAX DOLLARS SAVED MEXICAN JOBS, NOT AMERICAN JOBS.... :finga: :finga: :finga:

(I was screaming that at my TV when they were putting the stipulations on the Auto company bail out. I kept saying, "Put it in the agreement that they HAVE to keep the AMERICAN plants open, and not the Mexican ones....) :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Just ANOTHER reason i only buy Ford trucks...one built in Kentucky the other built in Dearborn MI. U.S.A.:D:D

If you financed the truck and the truck was sold as new then let your finance company know. It's their money not yours. They don't take kindly being leinholders of a new faulty vehicle.

The Ram is currently built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico and at the Warren Truck Assembly in Warren, Michigan, United States.

the 3500 I bought new in '95 was made in mexico!!! front wheel bearing went out at 100,000 and ate a spindle, paint peeled off the bed! VIVA la Mexico!???? LOL

lets face it, any corp, will do anything to anybody to put another billion in their pocket!

That's really a known issue with the 3500's though, not that it makes it better lol
I've replaced the frt hub units on my old mans 3500 4x now (twice per side) within 10,000k miles.
They changed from a plastic bearing assembly to a complete all metal bearing "unit" but that still hasn't fixed it!
I'm a ford truck guy and currently own a super duty f250 7.3 powerstroke diesel, I won't own a 6.uh oh (6.0 powerstroke) lol
None of them are problem exempt though.
But I'd call every # and lodge a complaint, check Facebook and Twitter and keep blowing them up until they can't ignore you anymore.

Yes, and they used to be built in the St. Louis Assy plant also. We had 4 assembly plants building these trucks. Warren Truck, St. Louis, Mexico City, and Saltillo. I used to have conference calls with my counterpart engineers in those plants once a week to keep up on what issues we were working on and decide who was going to work on the new issues coming up... They trained with us in Warren Truck before going to their assy plants.

We didn't want all of us to be working on the same problem at the same time and trying different solutions for the same problem. We divided up the work and kept the others informed on what we were doing and the progress we were making. Then we ran sample parts in each assy plant before making the official production kick off to make sure it didn't cause a problem. :evil3:

They found a cab for a 71 dodge pick-up in the bottom of the uni-prime tank in the paint shop when they converted it to run the 96 Ram. It had apparently fallen off the carrier back in 71 sometime... It was caked with 1" thick coat of primer. Of course the truck cab was scrapped, even though someone would have loved to get a hold of it....

They had problems with the Mexicans jumping on the trains to come into the US. They would find a nice comfortable new truck to hang out in, start it and run the A/C or heater and radio until it ran out of gas/battery while riding on the train. Then go to another one... :violent1:

Sometimes the trucks would smell of B.O. after they were in them for the long trip. A co-op student helped us when a co-worker ordered a truck that was built in Mexico, she said to tell her the VIN number of the truck and she would put an empty pizza box under the seat in the truck so the Mexicans would smell it and go to another truck. Old pizza smell is easier to get out of an interior than B.O.....

One time they actually found a guy still in the truck who died on the trip.... I hate to be the customer that ended up with that one.... :banghead:

So they used to have 2 US plants and 2 Mexican plants building trucks in 97. Now they have one US plant and 2 Mexican plants building them.... The St. Louis plant is now been knocked over and gone....

Our tax money saved MEXICAN jobs....

Well after THREE phone calls to them this morning, I finally spoke with a case manager, wasn't even the one that was supposed to call me Monday.... was told they'd talk to their upper crust and see what they say. I got a feeling that all this will be bullshit, and they'll offer to squirting some paint on and send me on my way.

Sounds like complete BS. They got your money and they don't give a damn anymore.

file a complaint with the DA & the state of Kansas, take the truck back & get something else-- look at the time you are expending on this!! Tell them you need action today!!
I feel your pain ,Lawrence

That's EXACTLY what it is.

They have just guaranteed the final sale from me. I'm one of those guys that switches vehicles every few years, 4-5 years is the longest I've ever kept a vehicle. This is the first and LAST Chrysler product I will ever buy. I'm still keeping the Valiant though, there's no prying that out of my fingers, unless they're dead and cold!

I told the guy that I spoke with before noon today, to email me his contact information. No email as of 4 hours later... horseshit. I'm giving it one more hour and calling back again. The bad thing is that I get a 10 minute break every hour and it seems to be JUST long enough to have someone almost answer the phone. Seriously sick of filling my down time babysitting these fools. I'll have a few days off this month with the way the work schedule is, and I have to fill it with this garbage.

They have to be willing to take the truck back first is the thing. Even then, I'm sure they'll want to replace it with another Ram product. Which the truck itself I like, it's why I bought it, but with these issues, and the complete VOID of service, I don't even think that I'd want another one.

Checked the trade value at a dealer and they wanted to give me 26K, get f'n bent!
