Hard to tell in those pictures. You definitely need to make sure the deck is flat and clean out the tapped holes.

Soak the coolant up with paper towels the best you can. Leave the carbon be. Can you see cross hatching from honing in the cylinders? How many miles on that engine?

Thats quite a bit of detective work. One thing I’m confused about is the fender tag you state is for a hardtop which I have come to know as a notch barracuda and the cars pictured and as far as I know all Hemi barracudas were fastbacks.

Total cleanup and check block for flatness. Take the head to the machine shop and have cleaned, flatness checked and get a valve job. Check spring pressures and valve guides.

For all the trouble and price those Doug’s and TTI’s look nice.

Flatness of mating surfaces of head and block need to be really good for an engine with bores so close together and only 4 bolts per cylinder. All it takes is one good overheating to warp everything.

I’d snap up that rocker arm assembly GTX John has before he changes his mind. His rep is beyond and that is a killer price for hard to find parts these days.
