The few I got around 150-170k still had hash marks, but the cam bearings were flaking. If all your cam bearings look good, it's possible 50k. What year block, does it have oil port to cylinder heads? Get a magnifying glass and look between the valves for cracks or are you going with other heads?

Since the trans is out of the car, minimum I would just reseal it or with a few tools and reading or watch some videos, you can get an overhaul kit for internal seals and clutches.

What did you find wrong with #5 plug? What carb, jets, P/Valve, D/Pumper? O2 sensor on each bank? Have you tried smoke testing for Vac leak? I always thought when testing by dropping a cylinder spark, the lower the RPM's drop too would mean the stronger the cylinder is.

Yes, internal leak of master cyl, if you have vac power assist sometimes rear seal can leak into booster or under dash if no power assist but you would see lower level of fluid in master cyl.

8.8 will work, A body rear brakes were 10x2, you could use other sizes, but you will need to add a rear adjusting valve to keep rear brakes from locking up, you can go to Dr diff and look at his info and call him to double check what you need, if you need to save cash just keep looking for deals...

Question: are you going to run with a stock /6, 273, 318 or are you going to make more power. If keeping it stock you can do the drilling of spindles. I always upgrade to 73-76 disc set up with manual brakes for stock /6 or more HP, next thing is use 15in wheels due to more selection of wheels...
