It pays to check your credit card account...

Just got off the phone with Visa. About an hour ago I went to check my Visa account online. Saw a charge for $168 last Monday to a vendor I don't recall ordering anything from. Called Visa's Dispute Center. Ended up with a three-way conference call between me, the Visa rep and the vendor. To...

Won a 1st Place at the Spring Roundup 2013 today!

Was totally unexpected! Great way to end a great day! The pictures were taken after I got home as I was very tired and wanted to get home to relax. This was my first car show with the Valiant, which I bought on April 20, 2013. What a hoot!

Which oil for my /six? Yes, I know this has been asked b4!

Have read threads here and on other sites. I may be regretting doing so. So my recently bought '64 Valiant has a 225cid /six. The oil is nicely black and I'm sure in need of changing. I've come to the conclusion to get a Wix oil filter, which is no problem here. But what oil to run in my...

Valve cover gasket: cork or rubber?

Looks like the 225cid slant six in my recently acquired '64 Valiant is leaking some oil. I discovered the bolts were very, very loose. Have tried to snug them down a bit but oil still seems to be leaking out. So am considering replacing the gasket. Fel-Pro makes two kinds of valve cover gasket...

    Decode this engine code?

So my recently acquired 1964 Valiant looks to have a 1965 or later slant six in it. Being told that 1964's did not have automatic transmissions with a column mounted shifter. Mine has one. Read somewheres that column mounted shifters came in 1965 and later. So could someone decode the code...

    Valve cover was too loose...

I just bought a 1964 Valiant last Tuesday. After getting it home I noticed there was a oil leak. Today trying to detect the source of the leak I narrowed it down to the valve cover. It appears to be coming out near the back end. So I checked the nuts/bolts holding the valve cover on. They were...

    I ask for forgiveness! I almost sinned...almost!

Please forgive me. Lately I've been discouraged about the lack of success getting my '65 Dart to start (timing issue). So I started to lust after other....women? Nah! But I did look at a '87 and a '89 Corvette! I'm sorry! Yes I looked lustily at some Chevy's. But thank God I came to my...

Timing or carb problem? Not sure.

Trying to get my '65 Dart running. Pulled distributor and found gear broken in half. Replaced distributor. When I try and start it am having 'blow back' or gas spraying back out the carb (backfire?). With a friend's help we did clean out the Holley one barrel and replaced some parts on it...

    Smoking ballast resistor ain't a good sign...huh?

Couple days ago I spent $5 at Oreilly's and bought a new ballast resistor for my '65 Dart. While trying to get the Dart started today, still working on timing, smoke started to come up from the resistor. Took it off and out the old one back on and continued trying to get the Dart started. Guess...

How do I connect a remote starter?

Was digging through some old tool boxes and came across a 'remote starter'. It's red plastic with a gun grip and a black trigger. There are two insulated wires coming out of the bottom. At either end of the wires is a spring loaded clip. How would I connect the 2 leads to try a 'remote start' on...

What does the timing mark on my '65 Dart...

....look like? I have a slant six 225cid. Had to replace the old distributor with a new one. Now I have to attempt to find TDC. Was wondering if the timing mark on the harmonic balancer is a machined indentation or a groove or what? What should I look for? Glenn

    Logging onto 'C Body' Forum?

Can I use my 'A Body' Forum username and password to log in over at the 'C Body' Forum? Or do I need to create a new username and password over there? Looking at a late 60's Fury is why I wondering. Glenn

    No start on '65 Dart...

Newbie to this ignition deal! '65 Dart not starting. Turns over very well. Will not catch. So I thought maybe I'd start with new points/condenser. Got new points and condenser today and installed them. Went to set gap. My distributor shaft isn't turning at all. Won't the shaft turn even if...

What's a good 'cleaner' to clean my carb?

Looks like I'm going to rebuild my Model 1920 Holley one-barrel carburetor for my 1965 Dart (slant 6, 225). Is there a good brand of cleaner to soak the carb in to get it clean before I re-assemble it with replacement parts? Glenn

I have a 'model 1920' one barrel Holley carburetor on my 1965 Dodge Dart that needs a new fuel bowl gasket and a new base gasket. Was wondering where I would have the best chance of finding a rebuild kit? Thanks in advance! Glenn

Nothing like a virus attack to make me miss you all!

Been offline for several days. Apparently we picked up a virus that corrupted my user profile so I could not log on to my pc. That was frustrating. The good news is the viruses are gone and after several days and many hours talking to Microsoft Support I am back online. Missed everyone! Merry...

No start. Work the problem with your help!

In August I bought a '65 Dart. Owners said it had been sitting for last 4 years. It would start right up then. In mid-September on way home from brake shop it started running very rough, but I got home. Next day would turn over but not catch. After some checking I discovered gas had gone bad and...

65' Dart: new tank, sending unit, fuel line installed but will not start...

'65 Dart sat too long by previous owners. Did run but then stopped. Did some investigation. Discovered bad gas in tank and tank got rusty. Have now replaced tank, sending unit and fuel line from tank to fuel pump. Connected everything back up, I think. Gas to carb but no start. So one thing I...

Went to Fall Auto Swap Meet at Monroe today...

The Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA is holding the annual 'Fall Auto Swap Meet' this weekend, sponsored by the Antique Auto Restorers. Big swap meet as it pretty much covers most of the fairgrounds. Picked up a few things that I can use on my '65 Dart. Went by the Used Car Corral...

Placement of floorjack to lift a '65 Dart?

Need to jack up the rear end on my 65 Dart so I can remove the gas tank. Want to put jackstands under the rear. Not sure where to place floor jack to lift the back end high enough? Any ideas? Yes Steve...I looked in the service manual but have yet to see anything about where the jack points...

    Anyone here use Layson's Restorations?

Am working on replacing the gas tank in my '65 Dart. Trying to decide where to buy parts. Layson's Restorations (Lakewood, Wa) will give any FABO Gold Member a 10% discount on parts purchased. Was wondering if anyone here has had any experience, good or bad, with them? I'm about 1 1/2 hours...

Replacing gas tank in my '65 Dart...

I bought my '65 Dart about one month ago. The sellers told me it had been sitting for about 4 years. The gas gauge gives various reading so I really wasn't sure how much gas was in the tank. Wasn't sure how old the gas was either. Last Saturday I took my Dart to a brake shop for an inspection...

Which one is the #1 plug? I dunno?

So my 1965 Dart has the large slant six. So which spark plug is considered the number 1 plug? The plug nearest the radiator and fan? Or at the other end of the block, the plug nearest the firewall? Am not sure. Glenn

Leaky plug on master cylinder. Replace or repair?

This is picture of the bottom of my master brake cylinder to my '65 Dodge Dart. Brake fluid is leaking around the brass colored plug that screws into the bottom. Obviously I need to get the leak fixed. So before I run off to NAPA to get a new plug I was wondering if it would be worth the...

    what grade of ethanol-free gas...

Just found a gas station about 7 miles from where I live that sells three grades of ethanol free gas. Am I correct in thinking my '65 Dart (slant six) would be much happier running ethanol-free gas? Will it make much difference what grade I put into her? Should I go ahead and pump the...
