    isky e4 cam lifters

I think I payed Manton 100.00 for mine custom made to the length I needed when I went solid lifter and its good insurance especially with 30 to 40 year old parts. Added benifit is the aditional strength over stock.

    isky e4 cam lifters

I have heard of different crowns on the lifter face but don't recall ever seeing them. I'm sure they would be fine but that would be the only thing affecting the compatibility with your cam. I used BB lifters from a solid MP cam I had laying around new with my Isky .510 solid in my small block...

    Idle sound

Video by Paul Mendoza 11.1 340. M1 single plane with 850 dp. 3200 stall,3.91 gears. .510/300 solid isky cam. Pulls hard from 2nd on to about 7500.

Valve lash with a 528 solid.

The Isky .510 solid in my 340 is 16/20 iirc. (Been a while since I've adjusted them and the engine is in pieces.) Pretty quiet valve train other than the roller rockers humming along. Main thing is to not hang the valves open hot. Too much and the pushrod can pop out.

High-zinc oil or ZDDP oil additives?

I believe the Brad Penn oil is the old Kendall oil formulas. May be wrong but that's what I understood when it came about and Kendall changed. I was running straight 40 wt in my 340 with solid lifters. (San Diego weather) I'm all out of those cases of "old" Kendall and will be hunting for a new...

    Lash cap help needed

I don't know if adjustable push rods will solve the problem because your still on a fixed pivot. Its not like a chevy where the pivot is moveable/adjustable as far as height of center in relation to valve tip. Brand of rockers may affect this, depends on at what point in the rocker they make the...

Oil pump install with ARP main bolt?

Just haven't gotten that far yet. At least the block is lined honed with the studs!

Oil pump install with ARP main bolt?

Is this issue all ARP main stud kits or only the 6 point kits? I have the 12 point kit on mine. Ill probably have to cut the stud though which is no problem.

    PVC breathers on valve covers

And I may very well run into that problem. However what issues would running a tunnelram create with a pcv valve I wonder.....

    PVC breathers on valve covers

My experience..... I ran dual breathers on my 340. It always seeped oil out the breathers. The 416 I am going to build will be getting an evacuation kit to the headers. This way I can use the exhaust scavenging like a pcv system.

    Low oil pressure

PSI is a direct relation to back pressure within the system. If the pressure is low the clearances are probably a bit more opened up than new. Not saying it's bad. As engines get more use they wear in the bearings and such. No biggie. Run the oil for your climate is one of the most important...

    what size carb

What do I know..... I ran an 850 on my 346 and it took all of it lol. Definitely bigger than your 715 you have now.

Long valves in a X head?

Hmmm, That may be a good option! of course by the time I by those plus the other valve train parts I may be in new head territory. Thanks for the link!

Long valves in a X head?

Mostly I'm worried about the cam which is why the long valves. I considered w2 long valves but there's a lot of valve train geometry issues in a std head.I was thinking about a .100 long valve with 1.6 rockers. It depends on where the change in the ratio is on the rocker though I think. May just...

Long valves in a X head?

Curious if anyone has done this? Can't afford w2's right now but I am still going to go ahead with the build for now. Have some extra x and J heads laying around. Thought what the hell! Comments....

Nothing different. Used standard 340 shafts in my 340 with solid cam. Oil still has to get to the rockers....

Making my Dart road trip worthy

maybe update the alternator to a dual field so that you can find one if it burns out. I've had that happen to me once. Much easier to find a later model alternator than an old single field that most parts stores do not stock anymore.

    Critique my mismatched Teen Build.

I ran a 300 duration 507 lift solid from Isky in my 340 before it went boom. (Split the block at the decks) I had to re adjust the valves after break in and that was it. 5 years it ran without a single adjustment. Good quality valve train parts seems to be the key. Manton pushrods, Crower...

    Main Stud Girdle Kits

I have a theory on these. If they're not doweled to the caps and the caps to the block, what good are they? Theoretically they could walk under the girdle.Maybe my thinking is flawed. I'm building a 416 using a 69 340 block, shot peened caps and ARP studs torqued to 125 lbs then line honed...

    bent crank ?

LOL, Gotta remember those type books are written for dummies that don't know **** so they have to read a book about it. Some of the books have useful information. Black and Decker house wiring for example. I read that whole book and wired my house to code and correctly! Not so much with this...

    No luck Adjusting Rockers

Sounds like something is leaving the motor then. I'd definitely find it since it could be catastrophic!

    No luck Adjusting Rockers

When I was building motors for a living, I didn't use the count the turn method. There's a chamfer inside the lifter before the bore for the inside piece's bore starts. I ran them down to the bottom edge of the chamfer and that was it. Never had a problem using this method. I would definitely...

    340 oiling system

Milodon deep pan will not fit with Hooker Super Comp headers. This pan may work with TTI from what I've read. I run a Moroso deep pan on my dart gts. Work good but hangs low. Only problem I really had with stock pan was starving at high RPM. Above 7000. This was with a Melling HV pump. I never...

    340?

One set is to clear the pop up 10.5:1 pistons of the early 340's, the chamber is opened up to clear. The other is for the later low compression piston 340's. The pistons do not protrude past the deck. Paul

    340 w/ 650 double pumper ?

I'd use the 650 and call it good. I wouldnt worry about getting chrysler electronic conversion though. I had to rebuild mine right from new because the reluctor was out of round so I couldn't set the air gap properly in the pick up. Id look into a pertonix conversion or any one of the ready to...

    Throttle cable

Check around some of the dirt bike shops if you have any near by. One when I was still In San Diego set me up with mine when they were not available. Cost me 20 bucks and about 10 minutes worth of time. Been going on 10 years now on the same cable! Paul

    340 w/ 650 double pumper ?

I run a 11:1 340 with an isky 510 solid, M1 single plane, 727, 3.91's and a 3200 stall with an 850 dp. on the street and it works fine for me. The vac sec carbs tend to be better for the automatics and better for street driving. I did have a 3310 (750 vac sec) on it at one point with a 484/284...
