1965 MMP's Barracuda Hemi swap! The Ever Changing Build

-
Been busy with shows, but was able to spend a few days home and a few hours in the garage.
I was able to get the rear bumper mounted. Pulled the radiator for mods. Funny thing I don't think I mentioned before. The Griffin radiators sells an A-body Hemi swap radiator but it's twice the price of the A-body LS swap radiator that is exactly the same with the exception of the top water tube. The LS being 1.125" and the hemi being 1.75". This should be and easy cut n paste job. :p I'll post pictures.

So I tried filling and bleeding the breaking system this weekend and found myself chasing leaks... ugh
So I got all of them taken care of except one I can't seem to fix. My parking brake valve, I can't seem to get the pressure in line to seal. I bought a new line in hopes it the mating mouth of the line.

Does that valve work like a mechanical line lock? Push the brakes, turn the valve, and pressure remains in the rear calipers?

Kind of a neat idea. Hope you can get it sealed up. Do you have a brand name or a link to it?

I'm using the Allstar valve from summit. I picked it cause it had the handle I was looking for and fit my dash perfectly.
Its not the valve fitting not sealing. I have a 90* fitting on each side and them an adaptor that the lines fit into. seems the line is not seating with one of the adaptors. I'll post a pictures of my setup when I get home today.

Thanks for the info. I’m with ya on the adapters. I’d use flare fittings to AN and run stainless braided back to the master. For some reason I never have leaks with AN brake lines. Every other type of connection (double flare, inverted flare etc) I’ve chased leaks from. And that valve has 1/8 npt fittings which are common AN adapter size. And they make 1/8 npt to -4AN 90s so you could ditch one of the adapters. Just thinking out loud.

Planning on test starting the car this weekend but didn't want to run the 545rfe dry. So I had to get the radiator modified and trans lines built. Big mod I had to do was to change the top water inlet size from 1.25" to 1.75" I believe I mentioned it in a earlier post that I saved about 2-3 hundred dollars on a griffin radiator by buying an LS swap radiator vs. The hemi swap radiator. Only difference was the top inlet size. The following pictures are the mod needed.

It does look nice. I’d make that bend out of 1-3/4 aluminum tube in a heartbeat.

Got a bit more of the radiator install finished up, found a few hoses that with a bit of trimming worked well. Also added a bit more of trim work..
I was hoping to test start the motor this weekend but I ran out of time and knowledge. Trans is primed as well as the fuel system. Still need to fill the motor with oil and prime the oiling system. This is going to be the issue as getting to the ports on the side of the block will be difficult I kinda ran out of room.. .I do have one easily assessable oil passage/ port. I'm running a 45* oil filter mount, on the back side bottom of the mount is a port that has a pressure sensor. I'm going to pull the sensor and prime the system off this port. should work out fine. fingers crossed.

Dang that car is coming out nice. I love the black bumpers and trim on that body color.

I too have to comment on that black trim. Looks great on that body color! Also really liking how sanitary that is underhood. Looking great!!

Thank you, To be honest I was on the fence about the black trim. My wife and kid were all in for it and convinced me to go that route. Even then I kinda had my droughts about it. I didn't want the full "murdered out" look tho.. So I still have flashes of chrome/ polished stainless for trim work, I wanted a balance. more pictures to follow as I install..

This build has just been so cool and so well done. Clearly I am a fan of the black accent bumper thing! I actually do mine in powder coat. I went same way with just a touch of chrome here and there. Not sure you can see it well but did the Demon (Hemi swap) windshield trim in black but did Cuda in factory shiny? I like both. But family says one more Sublime car and I am out! I really like the color of your car With the Black accents. But I fear Petty Blue may win out. Like you, those kind of decisions get settled at our dinner table!

Ok, so black bumper guys, prior to paint or powder coat do you strip the chrome down to bare metal, or sand blast, or just scuff and shoot?

My painter would sand the chrome with #80, use an adhesion promoter called “bulldog” prime it, sand it and paint it. It looked good. No comparison to the durability of powder-coating. Powder coating is king.
